Re: Hood release latch not working

you can try the search button, a number of folks have had similar problems. there is the "long screwdriver" option which I have not tried. i came up with an alternative:

    not pretty, but it works.

    good luck!

Re: Hood release latch not working

you won't get it another way. those are the only 2 ways unless you break your headlight tabs and pull the pass headlight out which it is then VERY simple to get at. Took me about 25min from underneath the car with a 1 1/2 ft crow bar to pop it open.

Re: Hood release latch not working

even with breaking headlight tabs, the headlight still has screws holding it down. better to just cut a small hole in the hood so you can get at it from the top. =)

i didn't know about the long screwdriver method before my grill removal or I would have tried that. least impactful though it sounds frustrating.

The latch isnt broken? Get someone to push down on the hood while you pull the latch. I actually broke my latch and for 2 days i use a plier to pull the cable but I may have stretched it a bit so the new latch doesnt work 100%. I wonder how difficult it is to change the cable.

Re: Hood release latch not working

Very easy fix, I did not read what was posted but most likely it popped off of the latch itself.

You can only access it from under the car between the fan and the radiator. It happened to me and I jacked up the car, removed bellypan, looked up and located it...took a long screwdriver and moved it to the side and it popped open.

Took about 5 minutes after jacking and nothing was broken in the process
