Shotgun to the rear...(UPDATED WITH PICS)

Hey everyone, I posted the below thread on the B6-B7 S4/RS4 forum, but I know not everyone from our area really reads the model line forums and focuses more on the regional forums, so I thought I'd share with you guys here as well...


Yup, you read the title right....Around 1am last night, a few punk kids went through the neighborhood with a shotgun and decided to use the rear of my S4 for target practice .

In the dead silence of night, the blast was so loud, it sent a good majority of the neighbors out to see what all the commotion was about (including myself). Luckily (at the time) no one saw anything wrong nor saw any reason to call the cops, so we all returned back inside without any great worry (and mind you, half awake, I did take a quick look at my car but did not see anything wrong).

Well, when I went out this morning, I found what the blast was really all about: a direct hit to the trunk, license plate, etc . To say I'm mad, or even to say I'm livid, is an understatement! And since it was a shotgun, its not a single hole but rather a series of holes and punctures from the pellets of the shotgun shell. Trunk definitely needs to be replaced (does anyone know if body shops will have a real difficulty getting a brand new B6 S4 trunk from Audi???)

Now, its not like I live in an exceptionally bad neighborhood, nor do I have any enemies (especially around where I now live given the fact that I just moved into this town a short while ago), but what luck huh? I mean, my car is (or now i guess i have to say "was") in pristine condition and a pretty easy target on the block. I had the cops come this morning to file a report so I can go to my insurance and get it all taken care of, but what a hassle and who know how long its going to take . Now I have to drive to work, mind you a very professional setting, with my trunk looking like I was involved in a bank robbery and someone got a round off as I sped away .

I always try to look to the brighter side of things, and in this case, my car is still drivable and no one got hurt by those stupid kids. Anyway, just thought I'd share my story, hope everyone else's new year has started off well!

has already happened within 48hrs of the incident...i just got on the highway headed to work yesterday morning and before I merged into the left lane, highway patrol was already pulling me over...i wasn't speeding, i didn't merge without a signal, i knew i had not done anything wrong, and this was the first time i was getting pulled over in my S4.

so the cop comes out and right away he goes straight for my trunk and feels the spot (i'm guessing to check if they were decals or real)...well, once he knew they were real, he went straight for his gun (NO JOKE!)...now here i am, suit & tie mind you, with the cop yelling at me to lower my window and keep my hands on the steering wheel

then comes the slew of questions: where am i headed? is this my vehicle? how can i explain the trunk? (now i know I was kidding when i joked in my original post that it looks like someone got a shot off as i pulled away from a bank robbery, but i guess it looks way too closely like that)...long story short, when he saw i was in a suit, I had my borther-in-laws PBA card on me & the police report with me, and the body shop estimate I had just gotten at the crack of morning; he let me go with a simple "looks like you are having a rough couple of days, hope it gets better, take care."

i'm already in the process of working with the body shop to get it fixed, i just hope they can get everything fast because idk how many more times i might have to explain myself to the cops

Sawed of barrel = quicker wide spread. normal long barrel = minimum spread at short distances. Looks like it was a normal shotgun probably from the backseat of a car.

well, if it comes down to the fact that i can get an upgrade (i.e. euro trunk, diff spoiler, etc) for like $100 or $200 more than original, and insurance will cover it, i might as well go with an upgrade right? but i'm not too sure yet, still working with body shops on best course of action

not a bad idea actually, not like i can mess up my trunk anymore, haha...might try a duct-tape base and then cover with black electrical tape, thanks for the suggestion

WOW, euro trunk would be sick. DTM/s4 rear bumper. Euro tails. CF trunk... so many option
Just make sure you body guy and you are on the same page. The body guy can smooth things over with the insurance people, most aftermarket items are cheaper than oem but maybe you can find a deal for some nice euro items.

lol def wasnt far away buckshot is right on the plate. they said ELLLOO to your license plate thats for sure.

they must have been really close.. from a distance of more than 10 ft the buck shot would have been much more spread out.they would have hit your bumper, possibly rear window and possibly tali lights.

i hope some of the buckshot hit the plate and took out there fucking eyeballs ..

They got out of the car to do that. Up close and personal. I'd put a mini-cam out. You never know.
