Shotgun to the rear...(UPDATED WITH PICS)

Yup, you read the title right....Around 1am last night, a few punk kids went through the neighborhood with a shotgun and decided to use the rear of my S4 for target practice .

In the dead silence of night, the blast was so loud, it sent a good majority of the neighbors out to see what all the commotion was about (including myself). Luckily (at the time) no one saw anything wrong nor saw any reason to call the cops, so we all returned back inside without any great worry (and mind you, half awake, I did take a quick look at my car but did not see anything wrong).

Well, when I went out this morning, I found what the blast was really all about: a direct hit to the trunk, license plate, etc . To say I'm mad, or even to say I'm livid, is an understatement! And since it was a shotgun, its not a single hole but rather a series of holes and punctures from the pellets of the shotgun shell. Trunk definitely needs to be replaced (does anyone know if body shops will have a real difficulty getting a brand new B6 S4 trunk from Audi???)

Now, its not like I live in an exceptionally bad neighborhood, nor do I have any enemies (especially around where I now live given the fact that I just moved into this town a short while ago), but what luck huh? I mean, my car is (or now I guess I have to say "was") in pristine condition and a pretty easy target on the block. I had the cops come this morning to file a report so I can go to my insurance and get it all taken care of, but what a hassle and who know how long its going to take . Now I have to drive to work, mind you a very professional setting, with my trunk looking like I was involved in a bank robbery and someone got a round off as I sped away .

I always try to look to the brighter side of things, and in this case, my car is still drivable and no one got hurt by those stupid kids. Anyway, just thought I'd share my story, hope everyone else's new year has started off well!

This brings back floods of bad memories of living in the NY/NJ Metro area. I grew up in Bergen County (Teaneck to be exact) and crap like this constantly happened in the upscale townships of Ridgewood, Tenafly, Dumont, Englewood Cliffs etc. I'm so glad that now I live in boring middle America Boardman, OH. Even with crappy Youngstown nearby the worst I ever see happening here is a mailbox getting baseball batted.

when all the neighbors went out, we didn't see anyone or anything wrong (it was 1am and pitch black)...i have a park near my house and a lot of kids tend to hang around late at night on the weekends, so it was defaulted by the cops as a random act of violence by them

I am currently looking at my s4 on security cameras. Check http://www.wilife.com its great piece of mind. Just as a example of this i had my truck broken into and changer stolen, they tried to get the deck but couldn't get it(all alpine ainet). Well when i came inside it was hot when i checked the AC the window was open but nothing in the house was taken. Well i went to samsclub and bought 4 of them, i just had a feeling they would be back. Well the next day I was showing off how it emails(can call u too) you when it see's movement then i saw some guy getting into my truck. I only work about 2 miles away so i call the cops on the way home, just missed him (I was locked and loaded). Cops show up 4 hours later show them the video, oh yea i just arrested him last night for STABBING somebody. I know what your thinking "What and hes out already". It gets better he just got out of jail on probation for 12 years he is 42years old been in jail since 13yrs old and he is living with his brother 2 houses up from me. Well when I brought the video to the police station he said the guy got arrest 5 times that week. Now correct me if i'm wrong but if on parole what do u have to do to get sent back, kill somebody. Now of coarse on the video all he brought was a book and pen so he could write down the remaining equipment and tools needed, but i got his ass and i know were he is. To add insult to injury the cop was looking around and asking questions about my other vehicles, insurance and papers to write ME a ticket. Bottom line the cops will do nothing except try to screw with you, because well u bothered there donut break. The next week they finally "catch" him when he assaults his brothers wife and she calls them. Buy this time I had allready showed everybody on the street the vid so everybody watched him get halld off. The next MORNING I see him walking up the road. Its about 3 months later and i see him on camera walking to the bar everyday(he gets a state check). Just think it could be worse. The moral of the story: take care of your own business because if your not family to the cops nothing will get done.

Trust me these punks won't resist screwing with you somemore when they see there handy work erased. If its some punk ass kid make it your mission to destroy them and there parents.

Agreed there one thing they can't stand more than anything thats vigilante justice. Thats why you need to be patient and plan your revenge very carefully

not as bad as i thought it would be.. i was imagining legitimate holes in your trunk haha.. this sucks big time though, way for them to ruin a perfectly good trunk/license plate. look at the bright side, at least it didnt cause any more damage to other parts of the car (bumper, gas tank, etc)

Some observations - good thing only your trunk was shot, you don't have to replace your bumper, trunk sill, taillights...
Your license plate fared better than the trunk.
Finally, I've always wondered how authentic those little "gunshot stickers" that other people stick on their trunks. Your car pretty much confirms that's what it really looks like.
Anyway, it totally sucks for you, glad you're okay though and it's just a random act of extreme violence and stupidity

yea, i sent a txt to my buddy today who knows guns pretty well and thats what he said, it was a bird shot. I guess you could say i was "lucky" and i only really have to just replace my trunk, but man does it still suck...

as for getting surv. cams, going and yelling at ppl at red lights, my car looking "tough," and all the other great comments i have been getting, i appreciate them all and thanks for helping me try to see the "better" side of things

haha, thanks for the help...i haven't really thought about it to be honest, a lot to take in within 24hrs, but NY DMV's (at least around me) are redic crazy all the time so i guess the longer i can go without changing the better

i'm pretty sure i would have to get it replaced tho, don't think the cops will take too kindly to it if i got pulled over & i'm pretty sure they would just make it one other item to put "on the tab"...besides, the S4's are the "sleeper cars...they dont look like much at first glance...4 door...not intentional eye grabbers...and although silent they are deadly and should never be slept on" so the less attention the better, right?
