I've got a stock Silver 2006 A4 2.0T and I have to repaint the rear bumper. I was thinking of painting the stock lower spoiler (valence) to match the car since i have to paint the bumper anyway. What are your thoughts? I haven't seen it before so i don't know what to think. Does anyone have pics of it done like this? Or is there another lower rear spoiler (valence) I should put on instead?

Click for a reference pic if you don't understand what I'm saying.

Maybe painting the valence to match the bumper? I think that never looks right when done on a non-sline. The paint just never seems to match up perfectly. I would go with a flat or semi-gloss black. That always looks good.

IMO, do not match the lower valence to the car. Matte black looks the best in non s-line.

now dont get in trouble at work cause of the ZINE, lol....Id go flat or matte black, paint matching the stock valences never looks right to me on the Audi...sometimes on a VW you can pull it off. I used to own a MK4 GTI

The whole bumper will be taken off to be painted and the valance will the prepared properly to give it the correct finish. It should look as good as factory when complete. I'm not taking it to a mom and pop body shop (Not to say that all mom and pop body shops are bad but you know what i mean!).

    Re: Style Opinion

If you like the look of the color matched valence, then this would be the time to have it done. Since its being painted at the same time as the entire bumper theres no way that it wont match. It should look perfect.

If you DONT like the look of the color matched valence and instead you want some contrast, then consider having it painted black.

This decision comes down to preference. I think you will find a mixed opinion of some wishing they had a color matched valence, and others looking to paint theirs black.

Color matched valence comes stock on s-line so finding pictures of that shouldnt be difficult.

    Done, done AND done.

Paint the valance matt-blcak rather than leaving it dolphin grey. Hmmm never thought of that.

    Re: Style Opinion

+1 to B||Z||, I dunno why you couldn't paint the non s-line valence if the rest of the bumper is getting sprayed too. Only factor that MIGHT get in the way is the plastic material causing the paint/finish to not sit right, but I doubt that as long as it's primed properly. Any specific reasons like that as to why it shouldn't be done?

If not, then I'd say color-match it, cuz matte-black won't really look a whole lot different and is better when you have other matte-black body pieces to create "a look."

    Re: Style Opinion

Haha, I had my (s4) valence color matched to bring out the black AWE quad tips a bit more on my non-sline and sold my stock black valence to p1nk50ck who has an s-line. It's all a matter of personal taste I think... Unless, of course Jay (p1nk50ck) tells me that his car looks better... Then I'll have to lay it down to him.
