Problem with horn....remains active for like 3 seconds

Since I am changing from beige interior to black I had to remove the airbag and steering wheel.

Anyways, I had the battery disconnected for like 3 days while I dealt with the steering wheel and airbag. In the process I decided to "realign" the airbag tabs located on the actual steering wheel, so that the airbag sits more evenly (ever since I bought the car the airbag was EVER SO SLIGHTLY misaligned) Everything went smooth....

But, now when I go to beep the horn:

If I press the left side of the airbag, horn beeps, everything is OK

If I press the right side of the airbag, horn beeps, everything is OK

But if I press the middle of the bag (activating both left and right sides), the horn beeps for about 3 seconds AFTER I release the horn.

    What could be going on?

One thing that happened during install, I moved the clock spring and it clicked to the right, so i had to realign the steering column so that I could get my marks to line up with the clock spring dowels.....could this have damaged the clock spring any?

    Thanks guys

These are the codes I threw this morning:

18107 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from Steering Wheel Electronics

    P1699 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

17978 - Cruise control switch Incorrect signal

Along with some other random codes.....

The clock spring assembly, plugis into the Steering Columb Control Module, directly. There is no way to repostiion the two parts in relation to each other. From the DTCs you posted, it's likely that the electrical connections are not inserted properly due to misfit of the parts. Make sure the parts are assembled properly, appearance is secondary.
