Has anyone put this on an a4?

    i have a 2001 a4 quattro avant with a tip tran.

didn't want to go into the GT turbos because im affraid of my tranni blowing.

    or i guess i could do the 997 turbo a ko4-026.

are these safe or not even close?

you'd probably be better off with a gt28 than a k04-15 because of the torque down low. as to the rs6 turbo... i dont think it has been done. they dont bolt up the same way AFAIK

The tranny won't blow with a GT series turbo. Many are making 450+who on a stock trans. You've got nothing to worry bout provided that it's in good condition before the upgrade

    Re: RS6 turbo (ko4-028/29)

there is a b5 member on here running a 2871r elim setup on his tip tranny. I am not sure if he has an upgraded torque converter though. Either way I would imagine running a gt28r shouldn't be an issue since it is a slightly smaller turbo that wouldn't make to much power..

    Re: RS6 turbo (ko4-028/29)

well the thing is, I doubt the rs6 turbo would fit, and there are no tunes for it if you manged to fit it. Where as the Gt turbos have PLENTY of company's who have readily available tunes along with the exhaust manifolds to go with them. No real lag to speak of the the 28 series. An rs6 turbo prob wouldn't even put out that great, with the s4 guys I have seen rs6 setups get beat by a ko4 setup.. Completely different car but just saying..

    Re: RS6 turbo (ko4-028/29)

I have a 01 Tiptronic with a T28 in it. The tranny holds up perfectly fine. If you want to buy the kit, it is for sale! The whole kit would bolt right up and you wouldnt need anything else. Its a 28 series turbo and makes around 330hp. PM me for more info.

Yup, and he has something like 160k or something on stock tip tranny. He might have upgraded the TQ by now but he ran that turbo on the stock tranny for a while with no problems.

    If I didn't buy my S4 I would have put a 71r on my tip A4.

    Re: RS6 turbo (ko4-028/29)

I'm sure you could find one that cheap but installation is what cost big $$. Tip tranny is stronger than some think. My Stg. 3 tip S4 is holding up fine.
