im at 7000 miles... got an oil change at 5,000 and had them look over the car, no issues. i drive this car like it should be driven in all weather conditions including a pretty harsh 14 inch snow storm. i really like this car.

    cheers... rocco

Re: B8 A4, any known issues?

yeah ... so far it is too much fun ... not quite like my RS4, but a blast nonetheless ... should be better with the mods.

Candidly, I am not impressed with the OEM brakes or suspension. There is a bit too much body roll and the brakes are cheesy.

On the positive, the base foundation is excellent with great detail on the S-line both inside and out. I know that I would not buy anything but the Sline (but that's just me).

I will report the mods (ohlins + ALCONS BBK + HREs + MILLTEK) ... I already did the tint + tuning Friday but gotta install the diverter valve along with the exhaust next Saturday.

Would that be poor brakes and suspension for daily driver use, or measured against those for track use?

The only problem that I know of is that it will depreciate faster than falling star, just like every other Audi. Great looking car though!

They aren't great looking in Europe?

This is primarily a US forum, and the OP is in Seattle. I think that the depreciation comment is generally applicable to his question. Cars are much more expensive in Europe regardless, so it makes sense that they are more expensive when they are used.

I look forward to picking up a B8 avant one day... if they bring the manual trans. After driving a new DSG though, even an auto would be a great car.

So far I've seen 3 B8 broken down on highway (dont know why/how), 2 with 1 side dead LED strips (not signaling, just dead). Knocking on wood that nothing's wrong with mine.

Damn, I haven't seen 3 B8's on the road, let alone broken down.

Re: B8 A4, any known issues?

I have nearly 3K after 2.5 months. No "issues" that I can think of with the car, which I really enjoy driving, washing, viewing, etc. A few things though: the MMI takes a while to operate completely; the blind-spot warning system has many false positives, and is basically unnecessary if you position you mirrors correctly; the steering is less firm than many European cars; the rear camera and sensors are very handy -- if you become familiar with the camera graphics, you can basically parallel park without turning your head (or scraping your wheels). I'm much beyond the point in my life to modify my Prestige Avant (except for tips, which I had the dealer throw in), I really like the balance between sportiness and the luxurious practicality the Avant provides me. The price was pretty steep but I'm happy with the purchase nonetheless.

Another thing, here in Seattle I'm starting to see more B8's, but have yet to see one on the side of the road broken down.

cars are great the only downside is the ugly oem rims on the premium pck the car handles great with the quattro and the new mmi controls are cool.

Speaking of which... After I posted my message about knocking on wood and hoping that nothing goes wrong with my car, my MMI screwed up last night -.- Non-stop rebooting. Maybe the weather was too cold? :D

I first toke deliver of mine in August 08 and it still have problems. This morning I just got a phone to confirm that there is a "DESIGN ISSUE WITH THE SEAT" and this is a direct quote from the regional aftersales manager down here in Australia. I like how the car looks etc but it ahs been sitting at the dealership more than in my driveway... If I had the choice again I would have stick with BMW.

how do you know they were broken down? was there a tow truck by them? I test drove the Q7 and the guy had us stop and test out the rear view camera. We could have looked broken down on the side of the road by on-lookers, but we weren't.

I hardly ever see a broken down car by the side of the road these days, much less three of the same model and year.

I conduct a car reliability survey, and hope to have a result for the B8 with the May update. So far, it looks like these cars rarely have problems.

Re: B8 A4, any known issues?

I picked up my 09 A4 2.0T Sept 2008, and my headlight range control defective after 2 months of driving. I brought it to Dealer to fix under warranty, first time didn't get it fixed. Then i took it back to dealer again, and took them more than a month to order parts from germany. When parts finally arrive, they hold my car for almost a week to fix. In those couple months, i was driving a Car with headlight only can cover about 5m a head of my car at night randomly, and the "Headlight range control defective" warning sound will warn me every 10 sec while I driving.

Maybe I am one of the unlucky 09 A4 owner :S

I would have pulled the fuse for that function so it wouldn't give the warning sound. It must have been annoying as hell...

Re: B8 A4, any known issues?

i just recently bought a 2009 a4 s-line and since i got the car there has been a noisy rattle from the rear left side sub woofer. it's intermittent so i'm trying to prove this to the dealership so they can fix it. off course with my luck, every time i've taken the car there it never acts up!
you would think since its a B&O system it would work really nicely but it doesnt. I've heard of this problem happen in the A8's with B&O systems as well.

There is an intermittent ticking sound coming from my dashboard (best I can figure is that its behind where the MMI screen is) - comes on and off but is loud enough to be annoying when the music isn't playing.

    Anyone else experience such issues?

Dealer service said that it may be the aircon system - said it may be the sensor etc in action and making noise.... will see if can get to the bottom of this but given its intermittent, very hard to demonstrate.

Re: B8 A4, any known issues?

From all the posts in the past couple months here's a list of what I've seen having issues:

    - water pump failure (leak) - antifreeze smell is the hint
    - single LED out on DRL
    - rear door speaker rattle
    - windshield wiper blade premature breakdown (streaks)

and those mentioned in this post

Add replacement of my high pressure fuel pump (on 2009 AVANT)... replaced first the fuel pressure sensor but put the original back when it was determined that the car was fuel starved under 'aggressive' driving (essentially, the car choked under pressured acceleration).

All's good now ... BTW, that ain't a cheap part!
