    alarm not arming

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just noticed tonight that when I lock my doors using the fob that the horn does not honk and the red blinking light on the door panel no longer blinks. I recently reset my service warning light in the dash after an oil change. Did I somehow disable the alarm too? Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks!

Can you manually lock the driver side door which then activates the alarm?

The fob will lock all of the doors. I tried using the door lock button on the driver's side door panel and all of the doors locked except for the driver's side. The button went down halfway and I could not press it down any further. I closed the door and was still able to open it (i.e. it was not locked). I was still able to use the fob to lock the doors.

This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the motion sensor. I disabled and enabled it but the situation still exists.

Ok, from doing some reading online, I think that the alarm is in a valet or service mode. I will dig out the owner's manual to find a reference to this and how to reset it. I suspect that I somehow put it in this mode when I reset the oil change warning.

    Re: alarm not arming

OEM alarm doesn't have valet. Its not arming cause something is not right. Door isn't closed all the way, Trunk is not closed, something like that. If all those check out then its probably a bad sensor somewhere. If you have VAGcom, you should scan it. If you could lock everything from the drivers side door and it doesn't arm then something is wrong.

    Re: alarm not arming

Wow, I feel stupid. I looked in the owner's manual and the Bentley last night and didn't figure anything out. I decided that a door or the trunk was probably open. I checked this morning before I left for work and the trunk was popped. The alarm arms properly.

I did notice that the driver's door does not lock if I lock it using the door lock button on the door panel with the driver's door open. Is this normal?

Good to hear it was something simple. And yeah, that prevents you from locking yourself out.
