Locate Paint Code

Anyone have any idea where I can find the paint code on my '09 A-5?

Wow. 80 reads and nobody knows.

Never did find it in the car. Got it off the Internet. Ibis white is LY9C

I think the code is located on a sticker somewhere near the spare tire. I don't know which number is the code. But if you find something that matches what you found on the internets, then it might help confirm your find.

It matched what I found on the Internet. I always buy a really small amount of Dupont car paint from my local automotive paint store to touch up the inevitable rock chips.

Does the paint not have a shelf life?

Not really sure about the shelf life. I did get a small chip on the lower front and needed the paint right away to clean it up. I put a little clear over it as well.

After reading your question, I went into the garage and checked on a can I bought in the fall of 2004 for a BMW. The can had been used a little to spray a mirror so it had been open, but the paint looks fine. Only painting with it can confirm if it's OK, but my guess is it's OK.

It's not expensive at $28 per half pint. That's the minimum they'll mix. I've never had a car outlast the small supply of paint.
