    installing avic d3... help...

    hey guys,

so im installing an avic d3 in my gf 04 a4 1.8 and i have some questions.

i have already searched for about 3 hours and found lots of good info.

    on this thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...te+avic&page=1

it says i need to make a custom dash kit... do i have to make a custom dash piece? Or can i just use the metra one and screw it in onto the side of the avic?

when i installed this in my b5 s4 all i had to do was screw it in to the side of the avic and use the trim piece and it sat flush.

all im worried about is the avic d3 not being flush...

also do i really need the avic mounting kit?

    all info is greatly appreciated

you don't NEED it, but it will make your life a lot easier. Otherwise you'll have to make up some custom brackets.

and if you dont buy it or make the custom brackets it will look like crap. the dash kit makes it fit snug in there. its tough to fit all the wires back there too. but deffinatly doable.

FYI, it took me 5hours to install it in my 04. and i spliced into the ignition wire for the remote turn on wire.
