    Crankcase pressure

Is there supposed to be ANY pressure in the crankcase at idle? I've noticed oil around the oil cap and was wondering if it's just a bad oil cap or too much pressure?

    Re: Crankcase pressure

Oil around the cap tends to just be a bad seal.

    Re: Crankcase pressure

There should not be any positive crankcase pressure at idle. The crankcase ventilatiom system should regulate the presure at slightly below outside air pressure. If it's positive, the ventilation system is probably plugged up with sludge deposits.

I hate to bump an old thread, but when i changed my oil, i noticed a good amount of air flowing out of the crank case (at the oil filler cap). So from my understanding this is a bad thing. What do i need to do to fix it. New PCV valve? I took my hard pipes off last year and they were clean, so i tend to doubt that they are plugged with sludge. Also the chances of there being ice in the system is very slim since it was about 50 all weekend. Perhaps this is causing oil to seep out my vcg and rear main seal.
