    hey I'm in the middle of replacing my oil pan on my 1.8t and the plastic shield between the crank and the inside of oil pan anyways how important is it ? Can Important is it ? Could I go without it ? I would really like to finish this today thanks in advanced

    No you can't. It prevents oil from splashing up onto the crank (BAD).
