    My car is haunted

Do our cars have some feature that when you accelerate, the music turns up a bit or when you decelerate, but music turns down?

I thought i was losing it until my friend noticed it the other day in the car and told me it was a cool feature. I was merging onto the highway, and i decided to show off my new exhaust a bit and the music went up a good 2 notches!!

    WTF!

    Re: My car is haunted

Hahaha yea. i always have to adjust my volume for this slightly. I bump and as soon as i get to 60 the music is distortion loud. have to back off a bit on the volume. But then when i get to street speeds, have to turn it up again.

    Re: My car is haunted

I was reading through the manual, there is nothing in the damn thing ( at least that i found with my half ass page skimming) that alluded to this option. I actually thought for a while that i had a bad speaker that was cutting in and out.

Depends which audio system you have. I have the Symphony II (I think), and it has this feature, which you can turn on and off. I think it listens for ambient noise and increases the volume based on that. But it wasn't working too well for me.

don't they call it Gala......that's what it is on B5 and B6 cars.......either that or ANR, or NR. Automatic Noise Reduction.

Should be something in the manual about it......

It's called ASL on mine... I think. I turned it off within 15 minutes of owning the car, so I don't remember.

    Re: My car is haunted

I can't figure out how to turn it off. It doesn't annoy me that much. Im just glad theres not a speaker that is messed up. I've read some cool threads about what our cars can do (little hidden gadgets) -- does anybody know any other cool shit that our cars can do?

Search hockenheims posts. He posted a thread a few months back with a few "easter eggs" on our cars.

Using the steps in the easter egg thread, you can adjust the sensitivity so don't have to keep changing the volume when you change speeds.

    Re: My car is haunted

on the syphony II, press the menu button once. then press the preset button (preset #1) that is beside the option for svc (speed volume control). After pressing the preset button the screen will show a horizontal line graph just like the when adjusting the tones (bass, trebble, balance, etc), you can then turn the left know clockwise to increase the sensitivity of the volume compensation up to 5 and counter clockwise to decrease the sensitivity. If you turn the adjustment all the way down, the system is turned off (0).

but for those of you who say that the manual does not say anything about it, if you had actually thouroughly read the manual (Audi Sypmphony Sound System Operating Instructions Booklet page 7 & 8) then this feature would have been understood.

    Re: My car is haunted

The steps sjparker described are not what I used to disable my SVC (Speed Volume Control) I think it's called. As Zebman mentioned, I noticed this as soon as I bought my car and turned it off. Haven't had it on since. My car is an 05.5 without Bose. Not sure if it's a Symphony or Symphony II, can't remember off the top of my head.

Anyway, if you press and release the MENU button, you get, check this out, a menu... BUT, if you HOLD DOWN the MENU button for a second or two and then release it, you get a DIFFERENT menu... The first option in this secondary menu is SVC. On my radio, it goes up to 6 but is currently set to 0 or OFF, I forget which. It's been a while.

It's weird that B7 A4s can have 3 different radios.
