    17" R8 and RS4 (B7) Replica wheel weights, clearance Q's

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone know what they each weigh? Can't find anything on the 17's..

    I would guess the 17" (17x7.5) R8's (interested in a set) weigh about 18-20lbs, considering i'm pretty sure the 18" (18x8) R8 reps weigh 21lbs.

Not sure on the RS4's either, i've heard they're heavier. They felt decently heavy in person, anyway (hot though!).

Also, i've heard the 17" RS4's need 5mm spacers to fit - any confirmation? And do the 17" R8 reps need spacers, clear stock brakes etc?

I have VMR 18" B7 RS4 wheels and they are about 26lbs. I have 245/35/18 tires on them with no rubbing/clearence problems at stock ride height.

    I haven't seen B7 RS4 reps, that are 17".

Our 18" V708's clear B5S4 brakes no problem! No spacers required. Our V710's are the latest to our line also clearing many BBK's on the market.

    17x7.5, 5/112, 35mm offset

Also got a local shop that "supposedly" can get them...but dunno, they're not all that common...which is why I was kind of wondering about their weight/clearances etc.

    Re: 17" R8 and RS4 (B7) Replica wheel weights, clearance Q's

So my latest research tells me that the 17" R8 replicas do NOT clear stock brakes and won't fit a B5 S4 for that reason. Perhaps some spacers could fix this. No word on the weight.

As for the 17" B7 RS4 replicas, apparently they are a respectable 21lbs and SHOULD fit. We'll just have to see about that..

    Will update.

    Re: 17" R8 and RS4 (B7) Replica wheel weights, clearance Q's

While i'm on this mission to find some nice 17" OEM replica wheels that clear our brakes, does anyone know if the RS6 replica wheels in 17x7.5", 30mm offset clear our brakes? Weight is supposedly 25lbs:

    Re: 17" R8 and RS4 (B7) Replica wheel weights, clearance Q's

    Update for those eyeballing 17's!

I ended up purchasing some 17x8 RS6 wheels (used, I believe the 35mm offset Hartmann ones) after a test fit, and not only do they clear the brakes just fine - but they actually clear slightly better than the factory wheels!

No new brake pads are going to stop this wheel from clearing!

I'll try to update with the weight later on.

I have 17"x7,5 B7RS4 wheels and they do not clear the breaks without the spacers. I have 8mm(if I remember right) custom spacers(maded from old brake discs).

    Re: 17" R8 and RS4 (B7) Replica wheel weights, clearance Q's

Whether a wheel will clear the B5 S4 brakes is really down to the specific wheel .You can't assume that since a wheel from one manufacturer clears that all will, they are all made differently so some will work and some won't (weight varies widely as well). Offset is no guarantee of clearance either (believe me I wish it was that simple), if you're not sure if a wheel will clear it is best to call the supplier and ask specifically if they guarantee it will fit your car.

We have 17" Hartmann HRS6-172-GS wheels which were designed specifically to be able to fit B5 S4 calipers.

    http://shop.achtuning.com/Hartmann-H...eels-Audi.aspx

We also have 18" Hartmann HRS4-252-GS wheels which fit the B5 S4

    http://shop.achtuning.com/Hartmann-H...-for-Audi.aspx

And 18" Hartmann HR8-GS:M wheels that clear and only weigh 22.20 Lbs

    http://shop.achtuning.com/Hartmann-H...eels-Audi.aspx

We have many other choices for the B5 S4 as well. Hartmann has a new German manufacturing partner with a new state of the art foundry. As such the cost of manufacturing is higher than the cheap Chinese wheels you can find but Hartmann Wheels are among the highest quality wheels available in the world.

OP, why not try some Kosei K1 TS wheels? 18" is 16.8 lbs each and 17" will be lighter.
you don't live in NYC so no worries.
if you don't like the style then I say go with the R8 rep

They are supposedly about 25 lbs, feels about right but never got around to actually weighing them, sorry.

They fit and look great though, come right out to the fender. I believe the set I found were Hartmann's, and hence 17x8 and cleared the brakes even easier than the stock Avus wheels. Some good points from Skyler, and thanks for the RS4 rim info S4bit, even if they might not all be the same...good stuff to keep in mind.

Can't bring myself to do it, I myself REALLY don't like them. Besides, I managed to get the RS6 wheels with some older winters for just $550 locally...but holy crap Dimcorner - 13.x lbs!! That is almost worth it lol, just powdercoat them black or something haha!
