I know, I know, going to get murder flamed for this

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, came to a conclusion over the past week.

I will not be going BT with my B6. At most I'll be looking at a +1 motor with support mods, Porsche brakes (ordered), 18" RS4s, and Stasis SS coilovers. Probably end up doing an USP front and S4 sides and rear as well. But the BT motor campaign has ended.

    Here is the reason why...

I have fallen in love with the A5 after a test drive yesterday. And with the release of the A5 Cabrio 2.0 TFSI with 7 speed S-tronic, it's only a matter of time before they release it in a coupe version according to the good people at Audi of Dover.

The B6 will always be my first real car love, and is the main reason why I'm going to stick with Audi. Audi does everything right for a car. If I were going back to an SUV I would get another Jeep, (I've owned two) but the A5 is what I want now.

So looks like I'll have the B6 for a few more years, but the BT Tiptronic project is officially off.

Sorry boys, I know a lot of you were looking forward to it.

    (Nomex flame suit zipped on)

Re: I know, I know, going to get murder flamed for this

^^ thats so funny you mentioned that.. I yesterday was giving the b6 an oil change and was like "wow look at all this money you putting into her.. She's a great car but what happened to the plan of getting the new s5 or s4?" that sentance kept repeating in my head. (that is of course after I spent $70 on detailing products for the irvine meet, $20 at the dealer for oil filter and washer, and $40 for oil..

One of these days, probably ill make it my college grad gift (4 years from now), ill pick up my new audi!

because the new cars won't come soon enough so we figure mod while we wait because we don't wanna sit for a year with a car like our current one its not modded enough to satisfy for a year but then when the time comes for the new car we are short a down payment lol

I love the A5 too but after sitting it in i really think it should have just been a 2 seater. Even my GF said the rear is the same as the Talon - cramped!

Also, can't put my goalie gear or snowboarding gear in there.

The B8's are on sale right now here in Vancouver but I've just "finished" my exterior, i'll be good for a few years.

No, between the family business / dog / etc etc. I barely even have time to log the car.

It's insane what they are asking for an A5/S5 in Vancouver.

It is cheaper to mod my B6 and then make some S5 owner cry when he gets passed by a station wagon.

Agreed. The A5 looks good when you compare it to a 50k G37, but that's about it. Never been a fan of the beltline just above the front tirewell either.

The b8 A4 is on sale for about 39k (with Quattro and sunroof). Pretty decent right? about 5k off?

the A5's look incredible in person, both inside and out. if i had the money i wouldn't think twice about switching over. yes it's a bit smaller in the back seat, but as long as it is larger than a TT i'd just deal with it. what a beautiful car...

Audi of Dover seems to be pretty good actually. Before I found east coast European, I took my car to Dover for services. If I were to buy a car from a dealer it would probably be from them. I had a terrible experience with Ira Audi down in Danvers Mass on 114. It's a great story, but I don't want to retype it all. I'll search for the thread and post it here if anyone is interested.

I got my current B6 from an auction. A close buddy of mine got his dealers license to make side money while in college, so he took me to the auction and bid on the car I wanted, then I just "bought it" from him. Saved a couple grand compared to the same car at the dealer. Most likely, that is the route I will take with an A5 if I do pull the trigger when the 2.0 TFSI 7 speed comes out. Like I said, this is still ways a way. 2, 3, possibly 4 years out.

If any of you have the means to go to an auction, I highly recommend it. With the "recession" the way it is, car prices have fallen like a meteor. And the bidding competition is less intense. Huge New England dealers like Herb Chambers, Ira, Deluca, etc who usually bring a million dollars to spend at an auction, are now buying less and less, which makes it easier to win auctions especially for cheap.
