    30v 2.8Q Clutch Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know if an S4 clutch will work on the 2.8q? My 2.8 is in need of a clutch and when I staged 3 my S4 the stock (good condition) clutch has been collecting dust. Anyone know if it will or will not work? I know the 2.8 and 2.7 are fairly similar.

    Thanks in advance,
    Nick

^^^ Not 100% sure, unless you fit an S4 flywheel, the profiles are different.
If you fit the S4 flywheel, you'll need to fit the transmission spacer too (11,2mm).

^^like he said you need a spacer, bolt pattern is the same. I tried it on my old 2.8 and when I was putting the tranny on the clutch would always hang up on the bellhousing just before it came all the way together.

    Re: 30v 2.8Q Clutch Question

So I may just be better off buying a new clutch designed for the 2.8? Does anyone have any recomendations for a clutch that going to be going in a car that will always be stock? I run the SouthBend OFE in my S4 and love it, but it would be way overkill for the A4.

Might be over kill but it wont hurt the car. SB has a stage 3 OFE for the 2.8, you can also go Stage 2 which has a Kevlar disk. Clutch Masters also has a FX300 for the 2.8 that has a segmented kevlar disk.

    Re: 30v 2.8Q Clutch Question

I had a Spec stage 2 on mine and it was a pretty good clutch, but the release was very high and it wore faster than I was expecting. After driving a couple southbend cars, thats what I will be buying for my 1.8 in the very near future. I've heard of a couple spec clutch related horror stories as well, oh and Mike has killer prices on the Southbends.

    Re: 30v 2.8Q Clutch Question

I have had really awesome luck with southbend and have been running them for years in other cars of mine as well. I am really not looking for anythign performance here, this is my DD and I would just like somthing that won't slip under power/launch. Maybe Southbends rally series would do the trick.
