Question 2.8L Exhaust Failure, Need Opinions on Next Step.

Hey guys, hope everyone had a happy holiday.

Problem - At least 2 exhaust clamps have failed. How? I dont know. They are really rusty and i guess the cold weather and battering of snow and ice finally caused something to crack/rust out/fall apart. The entire system is hanging 3inches off the ground from the flex pipes to my custom magnaflow axle back. Its funny that the aftermarket axleback is the only thing not hangin off.

Situation - I know that either way, i have to get under there and cut off the broken clamps cause there rusted to hell. So its not a 5min job. I want to completely redo my exhaust because...

    1. I will have do do 'dirty' work gettin under there and cutting anyway.

    2. I have a small putter that needs to be found and solved, its drivin me nutz.

    3. I HATE the way the crappy exhaust guy did my Magnaflow axleback, its set lower to the ground than it should, and the pipe is rubbing against my rear swar bar for crist sake. I cringe when i think of my exhaust and how crappy it was put together. I would eventually be redoing this somwhere along the rode anyway.

    4. My 14816 exhaust tips have always botherd me, i hate them.

    5. The entire OEM system is rusty to no end since its been a NYC commuter for 106,000miles from its origional owner. Its just a matter of time before another section fails.

    6. Res delete was a BIG mistake. Way to much drone. I was planning on buying a no name universal res or a cherry bomb to clamp in there this winter break anyway. If i cant hold a steady conversation with my girlfriend because of my exhaust, and the bitch level rises, it ends up worse for me in many different ways.

    7. I just got my inspection done and the place that i go only runs codes and does a basic walk around check. If i really want to, i can go gutted cat, or catless for a full year...and that will give me plenty of time to get a tune installed that can get rid of the CEL from no cats. Again, another thing i want done that i might as well do now if im doing some exhaust work.

For those who ask, i am keeping the car for at least the next 4 years. And then after that even if she gets a little shabby, no interior, a roll cage and a VR6 will be whats next after that...so i believe a good exhaust is a very good investment right now.

I am basicly asking if you guys believe now is the best time, and a good chance to redo the entire exhaust to how i want it and get it all done and finished at once. Or if theres some reason why i should just wait.

SO, what do you guys think the quote will be for a completely custom 2 1/2 inch exhaust for my V6. I already have the muff. I would be doing from the flex pipes to the muff. Dont include the price of cats.

OR i was interested in the Vibrant Set up cause its alot like the Magnaflow sound that i have grown to love. Anybody got a good link for a good price on that?

    Thanks so much guys!

Haha, all I gotta say is I like the custom interior in your sig. But other then that I'd say just wait until you can do the system the way you want to, better done once right then twice!
