Looking for Input on Stasis Touring Brake System

Installed Stasis' 349mm rotor upgrade kit and ran in to a few issues.

Primarily I'm wondering about how the pad comes into contact with the rotor. With most calipers, the pad sits within the circumference of the rotor, with the full surface of the pad in contact with the rotor's face. I noticed that with this kit, the pads actually extend further out than the rotor. My concern is that this would wear the pad unevenly and damage the outer lip of the rotor, and not maximize the full stopping power of the pad.

The rotors were taken off for an unrelated issue, however just wanted to hear peoples' thoughts on the design of the system.

    Thanks

Re: Looking for Input on Stasis Touring Brake System

Hi there. In general, if you're having problems with company X's product - try calling company X to see if they can help you out. Since you bough the stuff from us, it's the least we can do! =) That will normally get you a better result than posting to an anonymous forum. fortunately you'll usually find what you need here!

Anyway - the pad is designed to overhang slightly to prevent creating a lip in the rotor. As the rotor heats up it expands, the alcons are designed to expand very linearly and quite a bit - up to 4mm. Because the rotor is changing diameter the overhang helps contend with this. Otherwise any lip or ridge caused by the rotor extending past the pad face would compromise pad/rotor interface.

This is all assuming you have everything installed correctly. Give us a call if you have more questions or need more info.
