how do i remove my headliner??

can anyone tell me how to remove a b6 headliner? im thinking of redoing it maybe in a black suede/alcantara/burberry fabric. i guess i need to know the same thing for the rear deck.

All six pillar covers have to come down along with grab handle, lights, etc.

/\ Not true. The B-pillars do not need to be removed. I just did this about 2 months ago, so everything is still fresh in my memory

First unplug all the interior lights, and the top console. The top console has 2 little screws holding it up, I believe they are in the front of the piece right between the 2 map lights, don't quote me on that.
Then you need to remove the rear middle piece. Its held on by just clips.
Then pop open the little airbag tabs in the middle on each side, torx head screw on either side.
Then the fronts will come off.
Then the rears, there is a torx screw on both sides again, they were originally hidden by the rear middle piece.

It should all pretty much fall down from there. Make sure to unhook the wires for the interior lights from the headliner, they're clipped on. The best way to get it out of the car I think is through the trunk, its a close fit but with a little persuading it'll come out

have fun putting it back together, esp with all the extra fabric around the edges, i was planning on doing this my self as well, but after taking apart the doors and removing the door cards i realized, i would rather pay someone to do a out of the world job. never posted pics of my car but soon to come.... i am going with a double stiched diamond pattern like what you see usedin the lambo and the Bentley gt.

Eh, it wouldn't be that much extra fabric unless you were using like flannel type stuff. The only part on mine that is a little stiff because of extra fabric is the piece that opens and closes for the sunroof.

ok cool. doesnt sound too bad. hopefully i wont have to remove my sub enclosure and everything from my trunk too. lol that would suck(fiberglass box on the side, would have to remove the whole side panel).

and should i unhook the battery? i dont wanna set off the airbags in the pillars. are there even airbags in there?

If you have side curtain, which I'm guessing you do, then yes there are airbags. Don't worry about the battery or the airbags. You'd have to connect 2 circuits that are very far away from each other to get them to go off.

if you cant get it out, take out the front seats instead of your sub box.

and why would i take out my front seats? my sub box will be way easier to take out that seats anyway. so chances are, ill make it fit through the trunk.

Haha, Triton Wash in Salem or something. Between the two of us we had $7.00 in cash, so we split it up in the self wash things and made the best of it. Gutta be quick though hahaha.

i just took out my rear deck today. To take that out, you have to remove the rear pillars and there are 4 tabs holding it down. Pop up those tabs and the slides right out. Disconnect the 3rd brake lamp. I figured since i was removing my pillars, im going to take everything down.

i know i thought it would be easy... but nope! i just pulled all my pillars out.. .and now imma do the headliner, since im already in the mood. Cold and dark outside, but i still love my b6. Looks like i'll be driving around with no headliner or pillars for a while.... im Jet Jockey :) my cars going on a diet
