    just installed my boost gauge

Picked up an AWE gauge for christmas so I finally installed it. It looks awesome. Definitely the best looking gauge out there. But i have a few questions.... I know i need to change out an EGT and precat 02 because i've had codes for them (I'm going to change both EGTs and 02s when the time comes) and my valve cover gasket is leaking (my interior smells great when the heat is on). So with that said, at WOT i'm only pushing 12 lbs of boost. I'm GIAC chipped so it should be higher than that, but my question is, would the conditions i listed earlier cause the lower boost. The other articles i read seemed to have even lower levels of boost compared to what I'm getting, like around 5lbs or so. the car still pulls pretty strong, but i figured if those codes were causing problems i'd be getting less boost...

Re: just installed my boost gauge

I was still able to boost into double digits with bad EGT's, the gas mileage was crap and it misfired horribly. Change out the bad parts and you should be back to normal.

on a scale of 1-10(10 being the hardest) what was the difficulty level of installing the gauge?

I'd say mine was a 3-4. Took about an hour.

Re: just installed my boost gauge

well for some reason i decided to try it in the freezing windy weather we had here in jersey, so that made it a little more difficult than it needed to be. Otherwise, the directions AWE gives are all you need, very comprehensive. I'd say it should have been a 2-3 tops (on a 1-10, 10 being the hardest), but it was like a 4 for me. Took longer than I expected, froze my itty bitty fingers, the cloth on the hose you tap into disintegrated as soon as i touched it and was a total pain in the ass, and the 5th bolt on the ECU compartment was a rat bastard. It really wasnt that bad though. I've never really done any mods or maintenance myself other than clear corners, dual fog, and painting the calipers, so it was a good first step. Definitely doable for anyone regardless of experience. If youre thinking about trying it, go for it

Haha been there, I spent the whole afternoon installing my AWE gauge to get every last little detail perfect.

As mentioned, i'd get your EGT done, and a quick pressure test would add some peace of mind as well.
