I'm averaging about 16 mpg now... it's pretty much 80% city. On the highway I'll average probably 22-23.

    Actually funny you mention this..

Last tank of gas I got 16.7 mpg (costco gas)...

Usually though I fill up with 91 Chevron and I get 21-26mpg mixed.. City only will get me about 270miles /tank... Only highway miles ill get 380-400/tank..

I also have a lead foot so it depends on the music, the company, and the driving conditions lol

I'm the same way. My milage seems really low though, and I cleaned out my stock airbox and filter and it hasn't improved.

Well I got that spray stuff that cleans out your MAF, and I switched to a drop in K&N.. that really didnt do as much as it promised.. But what it does do is help my high revvs really get their monies worth.. (before it seemed like it was choking, not its like a walk in the park)... As for MPG, dont forget weather does affect MPG, suitable air for maximum combustion is like 65-80*... The other day it was like 72* and my car was driving like the day it rolled off the factory floor. ALSO another thing to point out is that you have a different tranny then me... As much as I tell ppl on AZ that I have an auto with tip, they all scream and yell telling me my CVT is different (like the black sheep gazing with all the other white ones)... My tranny is lighter than yours and I dont have Quattro, so I save myself like 1200lbs.

I don't know about 1200 lbs but you certainly have a drivetrain and weight advantage. Are the 3.0 blocks cast iron or aluminum?

im getting 16.5 using BP Ultimate 93oct. 90% city and, well you can figure out how much is highway. when im on the highway, my mileage is not that good because at 75-80 the rpm's are on the 2800-3200 range.

Yeah, I really have no where to go on the highway, so when I'm on it I'm usually driving pretty fast, I've tried to stay at 60 for 10 miles straight and was getting what seemed to be like 24 mpg but I said, for like $2 more this trip could be MUCH more fun.. haha

Re: For the 3.0 Owners, what milage are you getting?

I usually get 16-18 city, 23-24 highway. If I'm on the highway for long periods (half hour or more) and it's flat, I can get it up past 26.

Then again, this is just what the DIS tells me; I'm way too lazy to actually calculate it off my receipts from the pump. And I usually get about 320 miles to the tank overall.

Re: For the 3.0 Owners, what milage are you getting?

it also depends on how short each trip is.

if each trip takes less than 5mi, your MPG will be low in most cases (regular city driving)

if each trip is longer, you should be getting around 19MPG for city driving.

I got 18-19 for longer single trip in city and 15-16 MPG for short distance in city.

for highway, I got avg of 25MPG.

my overall on-board computer average at 18MPG.

I've got a 3.0 quattro manual and I average 23/24 usually, with about 70% highway.

Re: For the 3.0 Owners, what milage are you getting?

I am very suprised. I have a 2.8Q A6 and it returns 25+ on a hwy run. I saw 30.1 once, running 60 the whole way. Average like 20mpg 60% town 40% hwy. And I really dont drive that easy. I figured the 3.0 A4 would be alot better... Hmm.
The 3.0 is all alloy I believe.

Re: For the 3.0 Owners, what milage are you getting?

I average 20-22 combined using calculations from when I fill up at the pump. It's hard to rate my mileage as highway when it's DC traffic and my speed varies and has a lot of stop-and-go during my commute.

Just took a 30 mile or so trip on the merrit in CT which is very "hilly?" and averaged 24 mpg. That was with going 80-100 at parts for the most part I was right around 65-70. I was really proud of myself!

I've been getting 20-21 mix city/hwy. I use nothing but BP 93 octane. I should point out it is common to get lower mileage in the winter due to gas stations using a "winter blend" that isnt as efficient.

True. And I only use shell 93 which is supposed to be good gas as well.

I'm getting about 19 mpg with a mix of highway and city, but I think I need to clean my air filter out, that might help a tad.

22-23mpg on 91Chevron 6spd avant thats about 75% highway. at just under 3k rpms

i really wish our 6spds had a real overdrive where 6th gear would drop the rpms 750rpms, and not just 200. that would save us SO much gas on the freeway, while driving ACTUAL REASONABLE MPHs.

If I drive "normally" with mixed city/highway: ~ 16.5 MPG
Careful driving (lots of coasting etc.): ~ 20 MPG flat
Long highway trips: ~ 22-24 MPG

You guys might as well get an s4, or when you do get an s4, the 1 or 2 mileage decrease wont feel like anything
