Okay, so I know that to properly upgrade from halogen lights to xenon lights you need to: A) switch to a factory xenon lamp/housing assembly, or B) swap xenon projectors, ballasts, and bulbs into your halogen housings. The thing is I wanna keep putting most of my loot into the motor. So is just using a $100 HID kit from autobahn exotics really that bad? Anyone who is using an HID kit, what do you think about the beam pattern, lighting, etc?

to be honest i didnt want to ghetto rig my "halogen to HID" setup but it was muchhh cheaper so i just put the ballasts and bulbs into my stock headlights and i've been 100% fine so far. it's been months now and have had no problems and i havent seen any issues with doing what i did. so just go for it

That's kind of what I was thinking. And you haven't had a problem with the beam pattern or anything?

    Re: XENON upgrade.

I'm looking at doing this as well and I have a real problem not going 100% OEM. I found a site that sells the OEM Valeo ballast kit (it has bulbs, connectors and ballasts that fit in the factory location), but they're pricey ($360ish) and used (or was it refurbished? I can't remember). Rather than the standard 1 year warranty this site offers on their other products, they list these as being 6 monthers. While I'm guessing they'll either work or they won't within that 6 months, it leaves me a little hesitant to pull the trigger.

Now you'll ask me for the site and I'll admit I don't know off hand. It was before Christmas and I've slept several times since then.

(Oh, and I read as long as you use the proper bulbs, your beam pattern shouldn't change at all)
