    Maintenance needed message... what happens next?

    So I've had a message that reminds me I need maintenance when I start up the car for the last 1000 miles now, counting down as I drive around. Turns out the shop where I've had my oil changes done forgot to reset the maintenance tracking thingy.

    What happens when the countdown runs out? Will the ECU pull back boost to protect the engine or go into limp mode or something? I'd just go to the dealership to have it reset, but I'm kinda nervous with the car being flashed and the catback & all... they'll notice right away the car's modded and maybe they'll re-flash it with stock programming. My tuner is closed for the Holidays 'til Jan. 13th.

    nothing happens it just keeps showing "SERVICE!" everytime you start up

    The car is actually using earth's communication satellite's to communicate with an Alien Moterhship. When it gets to 0, New York City, Washington, D.C. and LA will all be destroyed at the same time.

    Nothing will happen. You'll just keep getting that reminder.

    isnt there a way to reset that indicator in the owners manual?

    seriously? go into limp mode? its just a reminder to do a check up, in no way does it mean there is something wrong with your car. There is a simple way to reset it, but cant remember and dont feel like searching.

    Ok, so I'll just look it up in the owner's manual (before the earth stops rotating!). Now that you mention it, I remember something about being able to reset it ourselves...
