question for the K04 TIP owners....

Ok my wife has a 03 B6 Q tip, I just did the T belt, so while I was at it I decided to fix a bunch of rattling and rubbing from the Intercooler and secondary air pump, etc (all installed before I got the car), the car had major vibrations before, now it is much better, BUT, I still feel alot of vibrations when the car is in D, in P or N it is pretty smoothe, but in any drive gear it seems to shake as if the mounts were not good.

I looked at the 2 frt Hydr. mounts and they showed no signs of leaking etc. I put in a poly snub mount, but the car shook before that, so what else could it be.

ER intercooler

apr tip

Any you TIP trans guys had this issue, BTW idle is holding at 900 rpm, the car does not want to die, just shakes alot.

The front snub mount needs to be adjusted properly, and or the transmissions mounts...

I am pretty sure the snub is well adjusted, I find it fits a little snug, but I am ok at idle in P, only in D does it still shake, what about the trans mount? I know the trans is forcing forward in D but could the trsn mount be dead and that is why the whole car shakes? it really is only noticeable when stopped in gear.

There is no real jerking or any noise just alot of vibration throu the car.

you could check the transmission mount, but this shake at idle seems somewhat normal from what i have experienced...and in park you feel no vibes because the tranny is disengaged...

Thanks, I just wish it was as smoothe as mine, I hate auto trans, but she did not want a man trans so...

all the mounts except the snub are stock, I wonder if there is anything to be done to reduce the vibrations in D, are there any aftermarket parts out there?

which snub mount? some are known to produce more vibration that others.

I have the ecs one on both cars. on the tip there is vibration, on the man 6 sp ther is none. same mount.
