someone had something posted up at avants.com, but it was NOT cheap. I think they were like $90 or so (I could be wrong) you can just order a new set and paint them yourself. I think they are 25-30 new with adhesive on back.

dude, plasti-dip mod is SO EASY. Seriously it costs like $7 and you can have perfect blacked out grill and rings.

And for the trunk rings you just have to buy new adhesive to get the rings to stick on when you take them off.

^^ just do them yourself. Very easy to do. However I was advised to go ahead and buy new rings from the dealer. All in all it shouldn't cost you no more than $30 to do the job.

    Yes, rear rings.

I think that if I do them myself, I will mess them up somehow. I can give it a try I guess.

What do I need? Rings obviously and some plasti-dip and thats it??

I was on a website the other day, I don't know which one, but they were selling rings for like 26 dollars. That way if you mess up, you can try all over again, become the DIY king! haha ill try to get that link up sometime soon if you want it.

^^ I used the rustoleum black paint spray for plastic applications and it turned out great!! Just make sure you use even light coats. 3 or 4 should do it. I also used a hair dryer to help bake on the paint. Wait 24hrs before you handle the rings to ensure they are fully dry.

if you feel like paying me ill go buy a set of rear rings at the dealer and black them out with rustolium for you. should be a shinier black than plastidip too. or i could do plastidip if thats what you prefer.

i live in MA and i get wholesale prices at the dealer. so it would be better for both of us for me to just get everything and ship them to you when im done. PM me if you want to do this.

I pass thru Santa Clarita like 4-5 times a week. You can have the rest of my can to play with if you want. I've already done my grills. I may even have some stuff around the garage you can experiment with. It's really easy. I'll shoot you a PM with my number. I'll be back in Santa Clarita on Monday around 4-5PM.

Re: Is there ANYWHERE I can buy some blacked out rings???

i wouldn't worry about messing up cause plasti-dip is really easy paint to work with. If you have ever painted anything in your entire life before you should be fine. To remove the rear rings use some 10lb test fishing line, a hair dryer, some goo-gone or some sort of stuff to help remove the adhesive and they come off easy.

Just hold the hair dryer over the rings for about 5 minutes (on heat of course) and it starts to soften and loosen the adhesive underneath. Then pull the fishing line behind the rings (it usually helps if you have a helper who holds the hair dryer over the rings for you still while you do this) and it cuts right through the adhesive and then the rings are off. Then just use the goo gone or whatever you prefer and rub it over the left over that's on the trunk lid and then wash the trunk.

Once the rings are off you just sand the rings with sand paper. Anything from 200-800 grit will work, i think i used 400. Make sure it's just scuffed up good. Then wash them in soap and water really good so they are clean and have no sand dust residue or anything. Then just put them on the floor on top of some news papers in a garage or on the ground in nice weather. Then do really light coats so it doesn't go uneven. I did about 6 coats in all. Wait about 5-10 minutes between coats and then let the final coat dry, over night preferably, but you don't have to as long as you let it dry for like 30 minutes you'll be good. And as for the rings on the front and the chrome on the grill surrounding, there is a DIY on a4mods.com that will tell you the same process i just laid out and will tell you how to remove the grill and trim.

It's really easy and the reason we use plasti-dip is because the texture and color match pretty much PERFECT to the color and texture of the center grill slats. Give it a try.
