    Question Turbo's seem quite

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just bought a 01 s4 and the turbos seem realy quite and i can only hear them at low RPM's or going up a hill. I say this because i have a friend with a 1.8t and the turbos seem to be more pronounced. Do i have a leak? or are the turbos on the s4 just quite?? Thanks anyone who answers

    Re: Turbo's seem quite

get a boost gauge or pressure test if you think you have leaks.

    1.8Ts have only one turbo

first of all, its "quiet", and yes K03 are uber quiet, if you do the darintake mod, or piggie pipes or exhaust the sound is more pronounced.

If you had a leak, you might hear a whoosh, or if you have bad dv valves you might hear a whoosh.

Check your TBB for leaks and make sure everything is clamped down securely. Also you might want to pressure test the car to make sure you don't have a boost leak.

Install a boost gauge, it will help you keep an eye on boost, boost spikes and potential boost leaks.

1.8t turbos are always louder for some reason, nothing to be alarmed about. Even though they are both k03's (different k03's, but still k03's).

    Re: Turbo's seem quite

They are quite for several reasons.

    1.) They are tiny

2.) You run a fairly large intake setup.

    Re: Turbo's seem quite

^ Yes. That's the way it's supposed to be. When you start to heard them loudly at high RPMs, that means it's nearing time to replace them.

With such a small turbo, quiet > loud
