    Re: question about springs

H&R springs designed for the A4 quattro - I presume yours is a quattro.

You also don't say what engine's in your car - I4 or V6.

Spring rates for H&R designed for the S4 will be too high, and will actually make your car sit a fair bit higher.

It'll also be very bouncy over uneven surfaces.

They'll fit with S4 shocks, but don't expect much improvement. S4 shocks don't work well with lower race springs. You're better off with sport shocks from Bilstein or KONI.

    Fixed.

If you want to keep a standard strut style then go keep the spring/shock combo, but if you're looking for an improvement coilovers is where you should spend your money. (my $.02)

The problem with any stock shock/damper is that it's designed to function at a set ride height. If you change the ride height you change the way it reacts during compression(bound) and expansion(rebound). Going with a Bilstien will limit this effect, but coilovers is the way to go for more control and adjust-ability(without modifying the stock damper)

I wouldn't say that exactly, more along the lines of I pay attention to the right people. ... and I have a degree in automotive technology, which basically means I understand how, not always why.

H&R "sports" won't be a big issue, the "race" springs ride like poo. We had a couple customers with that setup and I was not pleased(one with 18" wheels and the other with 19" wheels).

IMHO the VMaxx's are better than H&R + any stock shock.
