Same type of situation happened to me a few years ago. One thing to consider is looking at the connection at your chip. I ended up getting it re-soldered. Problem solved...

If the car wont start the ECU should throw codes telling you where to look for the issue. Did you also check to see if the CEL light comes on when you first turn the key on?

check the connection on my ecu it is good - so a history of the problems

the car wouldn't start - first thing i checked was fuel pump and there was no pressure going into the lines

so i replaced the fuel pump - with a walbro and the car still won't start

i put a 12 v source to the fuel pump and it works perfectly fine and same with the old one (dohhhh)

next step was the fuse that i checked before it is good

next was relay it works just fine it opens and close - and has a 12v going through it

last step was to overide it and the fuel relay engages and the pump turns on - but the car still won't start -

the problem now is the ecu will not send a signal to the relay for it to close



there is no cel light either

If you have no CEL when you turn the key on then you will most likely not be able to connect to the ECU with the vagcom. This will point to a ECu/Chip issue.

yah - vag com kept freezing

final diagnostic can i use someone else ecu that is ndbw - and plug it into my car to try starting it - even if it isn't the correct tune

I would check the solder points on the chip, you can do a continuity test on them to see if one of the solder joints are bad.
