    non-CPO b6 s4 tip with 80k miles?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i'm test driving one tomorrow and was wondering:

    - is there anything in particular i should look out for?
    - is there any reason i should avoid a used non-cpo b6 s4 (tip) with mileage this high?
    - any specific questions i should ask the seller?

    thanks in advance!

You wanna make sure the service history is documented and up to date. Is the engine seaping oil? Have any valve cover gaskets been replaced? Are the coilpacks up to date with the latest revision? Have the control arm ball joints been replaced? These are probably worn out. Have the brakes been serviced? Have the o2 sensors been replaced. High mileage VAG cars usually need their o2's replaced. Has the starter been replaced? Has the steering pump or rack given the owner any problems? Any documented dealer service history will help, you should try to get as much information as possible.

These are common items that most high mileage S4's will eventually have replaced. Most of these items (except the o2 sensors) have been addressed on my own S4 (which has about 65k miles on it). I've been lucky enough having a couple of good friends who are Audi techs work on my car for relatively cheap, so for me its been a fairly headache free experience owning an Audi S4. If you can work on the car yourself, no biggie...if not you better purchase some extended warranty coverage or find a competent shop that can handle working on a fairly complex motor full of the best technology that Audi has to offer.

I'd walk away from theis deal. Lately there have been a ton of new members with their new, used cars and they all seem to have issues. Try and get one with super low miles. If you think that you can't afford a low mile S4, then you probably can't afford a high mile S4 as you're gonna end up putting money into it to keep it running if it doesn't have a warranty.

    It's just food for thought.

If its properly taken care of, there are instances where I would rather have a well taken care of car with higher miles than a car that I dont know how its been taken care of with lower miles.

Agee 100%. I went to Texas to get my 04 because it had 21k on it. Even w/ the low miles i am researching 2 and 3 year extended warranties and intend on getting one before summer.

He could travel a bite and get this one and be somewhat unique.

That's a bad shot. Goodwood Green is a pearlescent finish. Under the wrong lighting conditions it looks washed out. This is what one really looks like. Especially after being properly detailed.

What he said. Just because these cars have depreciated to the point of appealing to a new audience does not mean they are cheap to own. A moderate repair from a competent shop can easily start out at $1000.

I would trade my car for a green one in a heartbeat. If that above one was available when I got my car, I would have jumped on it. I love the rare colors.
