APR Stage 1+ Question?

Hey guys, this is just a quick question, i have APR Stage 1+ and the associated mods in my sig. Now ive had it for about a year now, never really raced anybody, but i raced my buddys stock 5spd 02 A4 and i only took him by about a little more than a car. I know my car feels faster but, i dont know if im getting the full potential of the upgrade. Do you guys think an exhaust would have a noticable gain, and what suggestion? ie, test pipe or not?

You would benefit most from a FMIC. The stock intercooler cannot provide adequate cooling and heat soaking happens. You'll feel a big difference with a upgraded intercooler even in the Winter temps.

An exhaust would also help.

Also an upgraded clutch would greatly help ur ability to launch and utilize your much superior torque potential out of the hole.

Part of it could be that he just "outdrove" you - launching and shifting.

The 5spd has slightly different/lower gearing as well...could have factored into it as well.

I have REVO and have added parts slowly, but the 1+ file would def benefit from a FMIC/DSMIC and exhaust/TP.

Exhaust would benefit and as well as an intercooler too!

Definitely need a bigger intercooler. Even a stage 1 will need a better intercooler. My stage 1 heat soaked in freezing temps in the garage when it was on the dyno. Exhaust with an upgraded downpipe will also help a lot. The downpipe is key though witht he exhaust

an exhaust will def. help alot because fmic or not you don't have the room to be pushing out as much as the car wants to w/o an exhaust. if you got just the fmic you'd be running too rich so get both, or just the exhaust. I've heard 15hp from exhaust probably near the same from fmic a testpipe should add around that too. I know apr 1+ claims 235 crank I have it too and I talked to the tuning shop owner who said he knows the founders of apr personally and they don't puff their numbers, but there is no way we are running that without an exhaust fmic or both. I don't have either right now but I will before waterfest rolls around

but I do have a bailey dv and a sb stg1 clutch. anyway good luck.

I am wondering if it could be partly due to his having a 5 speed and yours a 6 speed? Differences in gearing could make them pull differently. By race, I assume you mean a couple of stoplights or maybe a mile or so?
