So I did a search and found information for later model audi's. So i'm hoping to get some info for a b7. here it goes...I've been searching for a b7 audi for a while, finally found one that im supposed to be picking up tomorrow morning. I test drove a 06 from the audi dealership, car felt great but price was too high. So the car im picking up is from a dealership called automax (maybe some of you have experience with this dealership and will tell me not to buy from them) but when i test drove this car which is a 2005.5, the clutch seemed to kick in higher than the 06 did. it really got me questioning whether the clutch is going bad or not. i did the usual tests like tried starting from 5th and 6th gear and car just stalled out and also dumped the clutch in 6th and the car stalled out but it really bothered me knowing that the clutch didnt feel the same. does anybody have any input on this. I'd greatly appreciate any information. thanks

    Re: clutch

I believe the clutch auto adjusts so it always releases at the same point. So it doesn't matter how worn the clutch is, the engage point will be the same. I hope that helps, I'm worried about mine going out because of the cost but I'll just take care of it and hopefully it will take care of me...

    Re: clutch

Maybe the first one you drove was going out and this one is the good one. FWIW, I have never had a clutch feel the same, even with close to the same amount of miles on the same model car. Everyone has a different style of driving and this causes clutches to wear differently. A better test, at least for cars with big low end torque, is putting it in a higher gear at lower speed and going WOT. Given the tests you did, I would think it would be fine.

    Re: clutch

That is true...I've owned nothing but manual transmission cars, including a modified vw and my last car was a g35 coupe...both cars felt completely different from this one but yes I know, they are completely different vehicles. I just wanted to make sure before I bought this car. Thanks guys

    Re: clutch

The engine RPMs will increase but the car won't accelerate. This is the clutch slipping...
