Are there any good and reliable German tuner shops in New York? Im only aware of of them 1. R.A.P Tuning and 2. GrandPrix Tuning...I must say I have had bad experiences with them price wise and service.
1. R.A.P Tuning - the owner Karl tends to Rise prices day by day, the service sucks, and to have the Mechanic good and honest work was very hard to get.
Experience:
1.I got a custom FMIC done by Adrian the welder, they took 10hrs to complete, I wasn't able to see what was being done. as months went on i began to notice the poor craftsmanship: 1. he put a coupler on top of a coupler, different size piping, and not to mention a leaking HKS SSQ BOV.
When I discovered the problems i towed the car to the shop to only find out that he just moved to FL. weird huh?
2. I tried to install the coolant temp sensor myself and failed, the sensor slipped out because i didn't clip it in properly(12 am). The next day I was by the toll bridge going to a friends house but then i noticed the smoke coming out of the hood, stupid me didn't want to wait for the highway tow, I decided to drive the car to the shop. it turns out the temp. housing cracked with all of the head also the radiator. The car was left there for the entire week to fix the whole issue. now the price was set to a certain amount. The last day for the final Fix, the Owner says oh let me tell you the Job was a bit harder and I have to Charge you a bit more. I flipped out with all of the frustration and said I am not paying a cent more, The owner then walks to the Mechanic and tells him something. later that the car is ready to come out without anyone testing it before i leave. now as i make it to the Highway the Coolant hose that runs from the breather to the reservoir slipped out and I noticed that it had a Hose clamp, After the smoke cleared up I saw the Lip for the Breather attached on the top radiator hose was clipped and shorted. so my friends I got screwed.
2. GrandPrix Tuning:
Owner Joel has an issue with sticking to his words " It has Warranty".
1. I bought my Ko4 turbo, it went out after the 1st 2 months. I ended up buying another one , I was yet to find out that he spoke to the company and got a replacement for free.
2. Purchased a set of Bilstein Pss9's and the shock dampening rebound was weak and lazy so I asked if there was any Warrenty? he said no because we live in New York they cant help out.
3. I ended up paying 250 for Esc Tuning 10mm Spacers
4. A defected Carbonio CarbonFiber Intake( the carbonfiber cover changed color)
5. A defected Awe Boost Gauge..i took 5 months to get a replacement.
is there any other Shops out there?
