Carbon Fiber Dual Projector housing; ready for clear coat!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Getting ready to do feather sand and matte clear; just wanted to make sure all parts fit first. Figured since I'm trying to do a pseudo-DIY and taking pics, I might as well post the progress.

Overall I'm happy with it. Imperfections are in areas you can't see once housing is inside the headlight. Once the matte clear is on, these should look nice. Taking the lens surrounds to a plastic plating shop to get the chrome re-done. Was thinking of doing black chrome. Not sure.

Hope everyone is safe and sound after New Year's Eve.

Re: Carbon Fiber Dual Projector housing; ready for clear coat!

Thanks. All headlights and turn signals and main housings will be done by this weekend. LED's are ?? as I'm still waiting on them to ship. I can't start to fabricate the LED strip and how it flows ini to the rest of the internal housing until I get a solid idea of LED actual size.

That turned out nice. What'd you use to cut the edges of the CF? Did you cut after the resin?

    P.S: nice hat.

how does the headlight assembly detach from the actual housing? Just pull and pop it out?

    Oh those look fantastic also!

Those are both low beam lenses right? Are you going to cut out the individual reflectors and mount them in the two separate head lights?

Wait I just read the title and saw dual projector. Does that mean you won't have a high beam?

Why wouldn't I? Low is xenon, high is H7 halogen, because I want instant-on for high beams and not wait the delay for HID to fire up.
The high beam projector has the beam cut off plate removed. That's why on some pictures the low lens looks hazy and the high looks clear.
I've fired them up during the design phase and the high beam is blinding without that beam cut-off plate. You'd be surprised how little of a hole that cut off plate leaves for light on the low beam.

Thanks! After doing the initial Joey mod separation of halves, the turn signal pops right out from pulling on it. The high/low assembly has 3 points of connection. Two are the adjustment screws on top (white plastic hex with phillips down inside the head). They are reverse thread, so righty is loosey.
Once these are screwed out (it takes forever; thin threads and long plastic bolt), there is a ball-joint-like snap fitting on the bottom corner. This pops right up and off once the two above bolts are detached.
I hope to have some more detail in a DIY once it's all said and done. Until then, I'm happy to answer questions if anyone is antsy about trying this.
