    Is this Possile? Swirl Marks?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi Guys and Gals, I just got my B7 S4 a few months ago.

After the first snow fall, I brushed the snow off my car.

It appears that my snow brush has left straight lines of "swirl marks" from brushing off the snow.

Now I think that they may of been there before and I never noticed. But I looked over my car many times before it snowed and NEVER noticed them.

Do y'all think thats possible? My snow brush is a normal brush with nylon/plastic bristles.

I may be just plain crazy but has anyone else experienced this?

sounds really weird. My car has never been snowbrushed, so I can't say it has happened to me (garaged at home and work)

what colour is yours? Wonder if I've seen you before. I've got a silver 2007 with the RS4 looking wheels for summer and the stock 2007 wheels for winter.

Re: Is this Possile? Swirl Marks?

I dont know about those snow brooms, any debris on the car is going to be dragged across the paint. And when it packs while dragging, it will only press into the paint harder. Id say do a complete wax again the spring, compound the paint down, clay bar, etc do it right. The light scratches are usually very easy to get out. If you cant feel it with your nail, then you can usually get it out. If you use good wax, the light scratches will only be in the wax. and when you do it again in the fall/winter, they will come out.

the only problem with those snow brooms are if your car is not perfectly clean which is almost impossible if its snowing in your area, it will drag the dirt and salt across the paint leaving behind very apparent scratches. no good IMO

Re: Is this Possile? Swirl Marks?

Thanks for tips, but what should I used instead?

No Bristled snow brushes, No Snow brooms.....

Also, what course of action should I take in waxing my car to get out the light scratch marks?

    Thanks!!!

Re: Is this Possile? Swirl Marks?

yep when it snows don't take the snow off the car it will come off on it's own
you can bush your windows off no problem just dont touch the paint because
your paint isn't clean it will put lines in your paint happed to me also
when i went to clean off my car it was really dirty and i didn't see it left lines in my paint i just waxed it and it worked but when the wax comes off you see again you have to compound the car to get off the lines but if you keep up with waxing the paint you woun't see it

you cant leave it on your car in NJ, you can get a ticket for it if its excessive. You shouldnt anyway, pretty scary when a huge chunk flies off the car ahead of you. Usually Ill hit the windows good, and get most of it off the paint, but leave a 2in layer. This way bristles dont touch, and itll blow off probably.

Re: Is this Possile? Swirl Marks?

Hmmm...at this point I think I may try the sno brum and start looking for a good wax or compound to use in the spring.

Any suggestions on what brand of wax or compound works best for AZ members?

it will buff out. you will need paint correction in the spring. it is the worst for black cars. good luck.

i would recommend this 100 times. i use it a few times a year and it takes out all surface scratches and swirl marks. my b5 was black and now my b6 is ming blue and this works very well on dark cars

major skip. mostly filler. visit the detailing forum to learn more about proper paint correction. fillers basically hide the swirls. they do not reduce/eliminate them.

yes, you will learn a lot from the detailing forums. detailersdomain.com is your friend. it took me a while before i saw the light but my paint has not been in this good of shape since the car was new. things get pricey but overal very well worth it

also, get a snow brush that uses boars hair. a little pricey but much more paint friendly

Re: Is this Possile? Swirl Marks?

dark colors show swirl marks like crazy...even sprint blue. Black is even worse...

You'll have to use some semi-abrasive polish to get those out. I'd say to have a professional get you setup...but then, you may want to do this once the season is over....

Re: Is this Possile? Swirl Marks?

    No big deal to fix.

Either pay about $150 to have some one buff it out or spend about $250 and buy the product and tools to do it yourself.

Bst investment I've made for my cars.
