be a good roomate and you'll get them for free.

But seriously, Nothing. Just remove two top screws on the radiator mount, and losen the bottom 2 screws on the headlight tray. They don't need to be removed, just loosened.
Then slide the headlight out, use a flathead to unlock the wire harness clip, and then swap.

    You're done

this is true if the headlight is complete (bulbs, ballasts...) if NOT, then it is slightly more involved. there are a few writeups on here somewhere.

the headlights are not complete. i will be using the bulbs and ballasts from my a4 single xenons which are not the slim ballasts that the s4 uses. would that be possible to do?

not necessarily, this is what i had to do when changing to s4 bi-xenons from stock xenon:

    •new high beam bulbs.
•modify the 'door' the ballast fits into. it's a 5 min job if you have a dremel. took me 15 with a drill and a hacksaw. and a bit of silicon as a "just in case"
•move a wire to a different pin on a cluster plug.

maybe different on s4 single xenon, ,but this is what i had to do. nothing was a big deal, but not 'plug and play'

His single xenons should go right it to your car, I think you might have to VAG a setting for them though.
