How to get brake dust off?

So as much as i try to clean my rims with soap and water, there's brake dust that seems almost caked on that i cant get rid of. im scared to use any other type of cleanser because the clearcoat is already peeling on one of my rims. what other solution do i have? is there any cleaners that for sure won't harm the finish? thanks

btw, they are iForged rims with a brushed alum finish if that makes any difference.

you could try a clay bar and see if that helps.

if not you should had cleaned them more often.

try a high pressure hose, some gas stations have them for their self service car washes and it removes a ton of build up.

Simple Green worked for mine in getting everything off when I was prepping them to paint.

I used to use brake cleaner, would not recommend. Use Audi Wheel cleaner smells like soap works great, break dust comes off no problem. This is the link "http://www.audipartssuperstore.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=310_314&products_id=1087" or go to any Audi dealership, they should have it.
