I'm getting an Avant....Finally!!!!

I have been on these forums forever, and although its not my first choice I am finally picking up an Avant. It's an 03 Atlas Gray Avant and I'm getting it shipped from NY to Iowa.


I have a few mods in mind, 1st...debadge and black out grills, 2nd....H&R Coilovers, 3rd......probably either black OZ Ultraleggra or Superturismo wheels, and 4th...... I cant decide if I want to paint my lowers with no S4 blades, or leave them unpainted and get the blades. Anyways, I can't wait to finally get the damn thing!!!!

Well the Avant is my first choice, just not the color or year. I really wanted an Ibis white or Quartz gray B7 Avant with Ti package but right now that is a little out of my price range.

So I picked this 03 Atlas 1.8T Tip, with 70k miles, loaded with Xenon, Bose, black leather, heated seats, powers drivers seat, homelink, moonroof, ect...... for $9900 bucks. It is a second owner clean title and it covered under extended warranty for another 3 years or 30k miles. I just can't wait to get it and when I do I will post some pics

What do you guys think about the mods I have planned, do you like them or should I go another route........................Thanks

im not too sure about black wheels on atlas grey you should look it up the colors look off but other than that your good

THANKS. At first i didn't like them, then the dark mean look grew on me.
I think that's the route i'm going. I blacked out the rings, grills, and the trunk trim. Hopefully wrapping the roof in a flat black soon.And looking for all black wheels. I like the Vmr 710 in Matte black. But i also like them in Gunmetal.

I think that in general, black wheels really hide the contours and design of the wheel so I don't care for them. Black wheels on a black car... bleh. People can really go overboard on the black black black and more black sometimes, and end up with a car you can't see.

The wheels on that atlas with the roof box don't look bad, but I prefer silver painted wheels or anthracite colored.

I have also even thought about finding some factory usp wheels and getting them powdercoated black. I also really love the black oz ultraleggras!

Hey, I got a couple more questions for you guys. First of all, how do you get the little quattro badge out of the front grill, does it just pop off? Also, how hard is it to get the upper and lower front grills off so I can either plasti dip the chrome trim black, or I might just buy the all black ones from ecstuning...........Thanks again guys

It all just pops out. The one on the hood is a little tougher, make sure you don't break the tabs.

Well my Avant is finally getting loaded on the truck today in NY......ughhh. So i'm hoping it will be here within a week, I can't freakin wait anymore!!!

Well my car is here, and I freakin love it!!!! The truck dropped it off yesterday just in time for blizzard conditions driving home last night. It is by far the best vehicle I have ever driven in the snow, and all it has is all season tires on it right now.....WOOOOHOOO!!!

I have two questions for you guys, my rear fog is always on and I searched how to turn it on and off, but even if I don't pull the headlight switch out at all....it is still on? Also, my temp gauge stay on cold all the time, it jumped up to the middle once and then went back down. Does anyone know if that is a common problem???..............Thanks guys

Right side rear fog? you mean passinger? if so its a mod and prob hardwired. Re temp guage.. I would look at that if sticking on or bouncing to cold could be a real problem. Seen this be very cheap to super expensive. How is the heat working at a standstill? Sometimes if there is air in the coolant system it can cause guage to bounce.

No the light is on the drivers side rear, so I don't know, I will probably just yank the bulb out. How do I get to the rear tail lamp bulbs?

About the gauge, the heat seems to be just fine at a stand still. The gauge mostly stays on cold all the time, but like every once in awhile it jumps up to half and then goes back down. Otherwise I am very pleased with the car so far, thanks for the help guys!

THere is a thread in this forum about removing the rear lamp housing.

I would find another local B6'er and swap headlight control switches. It takes about 15 seconds to remove the switch. IIRC you have it in the OFF position, push it inwards, turn right a few degrees, and pull out. It very well may be the easiest part to change on the entire car.

Temp problem sounds like the thermostat.

Thanks man, now I just need to get my coilovers and wheels so I can post some pics!! I did the plast dip front grill and took all the badges off so that helped the look a little bit
