Can you comment on the fuel pump upgrade afterwards? Horse power gains, MPG etc. How noticeable was the upgrade and where in the powerband was the difference felt? Any one dyno pre/post?

    Thanks!!!

Re: Calling all original K04 owners (APR)...

I have the original APR KO4 kit. When I added the fuel pump I noticed a huge difference, the car had way more power from 5000rpm up. Without the pump I tended to shift at around 5000RPM as there wasn't much after that but once I had the pump I could feel the car get a second kick from 5500 - redline (6800).

Fuel consumption definitely increased, without the pump it was easy to get 28miles to the gallon (city driving only) but with the pump I struggled to get better than 23mpg.

Dyno's, to be honest my car hasn't been running very well due to a whole host of engine problems including PCV, low fuel pressure sensors/ pumps etc so when I did before and after dyno's I only picked up about 5 peak WHP The other problem was I didn't have FMIC or exhaust so I was restricted by this as well. I am currently resolving all issues with my car and will be starting from scratch with my mods, i.e. dyno car stock then add all mods and re dyno with everything running as it should I will keep everyone posted.

I would however highly recommend the modification to you, it seems expensive but it is far more beneficial to daily driving than an exhaust and costs the same if you buy the pump outright or less if you get your pump rebuilt.

I only have GIAC. BUt I also experience fuel cut with the stock K03. I figured though it seems to be a weight problem. As the gas tank empties the cut goes away. I can't wait to upgrade my pump. I may head over to APR and have them rebuild mine for $600.

Sorry to here about your problems. I have been running the same kit since 1,000 miles and have been relatively problem free. I just had the PCV failure. My dealer fixed it under warranty (mods and all. Thanks for your reply. Gas mileage is a factor for me.

I'm about to purchase the BSH PCV fix to ensure I don't have any problems again with this issue.

The pump will increase your fuel consumption, this is due to the way the pump works. The pump sits on the cam shaft, the size of the cam lobe and the rate at which the cam rotates stay the same, regardless of the fuel pump. So therefore to get more fuel the pump volume must be increased. Once this has been increased you will use more fuel at all times. However when you are doing constant speeds on the freeway I don't think difference will be that much. but you will get worse MPG.
