    Windshield sprayers... really this bad?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I finally had a need to use my windshield sprayers to get some dirt off my glass, it sprayed out like a old dog taking a piss. It was just a steady stream with little coverage of my actual windshield, both of them were the same. Is there a reason they are so bad? A honda pilot i was driving around for a few days had a monsoon like spray of water that covered the entire windshield no problem...

Small rant but its been a bad day and apparently I need something to bitch about.

Mine don't have that problem. They work fine. I'd say you have clogged sprayers perhaps?

Re: Windshield sprayers... really this bad?

the Audi sprayers (if this is your first one) are a bit different to Honda, for example

the Honda ones have a little hood at the nozzle that makes the stream come out and spray evenly on the glass

the Audi ones shoot a laser like jet at the middle of each side of the windshield. The power is supposed to be enough for it to disapate on contact with the windscreen, and the wipers do the rest of the work.

If you're not getting that heavy spray power, you're likely clogged or having some other trouble.

Re: Windshield sprayers... really this bad?

@ gjc - Very true, I wasnt comparing the 4 to pilot in any ways just sayin I like the sprayers.

@ sakimano - I had a TT before my s4, Dont think i ever noticed how they sprayed tho.

Thanks for the reply's guys, I don't think anything is wrong with mine its just how they work apparently.

On a side note when you spray them on the road doin 60mph are the headlight washers supposed to spray also? Mine do and for some reason I thought you had to be stoped for them to come on..

Also pop the hood and check the fluid line, sometimes they kink when you close the hood. Otherwise, try just popping a toothpick in the nozzles, might have some debris. Careful, dont wiggle or youll re aim the sprayers.

I think they come on when the headlights are on, either manually or auto mode

If your headlights are on and you hold the windshield washers on for a couple seconds it will blast your headlights.

If yuo or another owner have used rainx fluid wihout draining the blue fluid first, than the rainx fluid will coagulate and cause all sorts of problems....Just food for thought......

Only on your car. Mine does an excellent job. It helps to use it more often.

Turn off your headlights before you wash your windshield (or have them set to Auto and do it during the day)
