WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
OK I need to order a new Brake booster hose. Mine leaks. I called ecs tuning and they say that audi does not sell the part anymore, they say the part # for that is for 5 feet of brake hose a check valve and a clamp to make your own. He said it was hard to believe. I cannot believe it as well. So I am asking here and going to check at a few other places to see if I can find a part number.
I have the 01.5 that has the brake booster hose go from brake booster, to intake to accordian hose.
Anyone know what this part is or where I can buy it?
    Here are a few pics:

That part should still be available. If you can't get it at the dealer, try genuine audi parts or worldimpex.

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

I tried genuine audi parts too and this was their response:

"Audi replace the vacuum hose to something that you must modify the system. We had an S4 in here with the same problem as yours. I believe we sent the original hose out for repair."

So seams to be the same issue that ECS tuning stated. That is so stupid.

I remember seeing a post a month or two ago about someone else having this brake and what they did to fix it. I thought I read someone found a place that sells that part but I'll research for that post too later tonight.

But if someone else has a coment it would be appreciated.

Mholme I'll check that other place you mentioned as well.

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

Well I checked worldimpex. They offer the same solution:

For my car with my vin number it pointed to model APB so that says I need part number 8 which is the three parts - valve, piping and check valve and make your own replacement part. Stupid if you ask me. Note pic below.

Soooo I did a search, (I should of did it first of all) and found this post:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...e+booster+hose

The guy in that post had his brake booster hose blow apart by the check valve and he found one from this site: http://www.independenttuning.ca/ that place is in Canada so I sent an email to see if they have the part. I'll update if I find anything out. seams a lot of people are having this same problem with getting this stupid brake booster fixed.

On simular note I am getting these codes:

16825 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect Flow
    P0441 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16826 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Small Leak
    P0442 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

This is one reason why I'm thinking I need to replace my brake booster, plus because it has a small leak from check valve when I pressure test car. I did try a temp fix by using jbweld on the check valve on outside to see if that helps, but it seams to not make a difference. I havnt tried doing leak test since then, so I will try that maybe in a few days.

Anyway I found another post where someone says :
"for the EVAP faults. Bet ya 20 bucks the purge valve is failing. To this day 99 out of 100 small and intermittant leak faults I've seen have been cured with new purge valves. Actually most all EVAP faults are due to faulty purge valves. Over time, the mechanical portion of the valve goes bad causing various faults."

Is the purge valve the same as the check valve in the brake booster?

The entire reason I want this fixed is 2 reasons - I have a small boost leak somewhere which obviously is not good, but secondly when I go into full boost in 5th or 6th gear (17-18 psi) I get a maf max pressure CEL code They say this is because of boost leak so I think with these codes together if I can fix this bost leak with the brake booster hose - purge valve (what ever that is ) then all my problems will be solved ....... Until the next one occurs.

Again if anyone knows a place that sells a replacement brake booster hose with out having to make your own, please post. Thanks

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

My hose kept popping off where its connected in the 2nd pic. I just used some super glue and high temp. silicone and it works fine now.

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

Its holding fine now, one main conern I have by the check valve in the pic is I'm wondering if the check valve is working correctly, maybe thats why its causing the evap leak codes. If I can find out more what the purge valve is, if its different than this check valve, then I will know more what I need to do.

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

To update this post, I had asked the question if the check valve in brake booster line is same as purge valve, the answer is NO

The Purge valve is the N80 purge valve that controls pressure for fuel, or something like that . It is this thing here:

You can check it in vagcom by Going into 01 engine electronics, 04 basic settings, group 070 and 071. One is a tank leak check, the other is purge valve function

So I'm going to try this tomorrow

I'm realizing this is probably unrelated to my boost issue but it will fix the evap codes. Could be gas cover too, but i'm leaning more to n80 valve defective.

It really pays to search, I learn so much. Best of all its free!!!

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

I think I found the correct part for the brake booster:

    Pt # 078-133-701-AD sold at genuineaudiparts.com for $70.13

Only thing is when calling and giving my vin # they say I need a different part # where you buy 3 parts to make my own replacement, so dont know if there is a glitch in the labeling of part numbers, but the below pic is what I need. and it is the part number listed above. So hope this helps others as well.

That looks like the part I got and replaced! The most difficult part of the job was to remove the bottom right end from the car. I ended up breaking the old one to get it off by hammering a long screwdriver - but the new one pops on easily.

Yeah what is so funny about this part is I called 3 places and all 3 say they dont sell the brake booster hose any more for my vin # - which is for 2001.5 You have to buy hose, check valve, and clamp and make your own. Each going off some parts sheet that I pasted to this post shoing that they dont sell it.

But a fellow Audiziner - Mholme sent me the part # and a picture of what I need. I dont really know where he got it, I think it was for his 2000 model. Anyway what seams to have happened is somewhere in the parts store documentation they got something screwed up. Which I have seen before.

I took that part # that Mholme gave me and entered that into both genuineaudiparts.com and worldimpex and they both sell the correct part, but its called by a different name. One calls it a suction pump and the other calls it booster. lol

I dont care as long as I get the right part.

I'm going to go with genuineaudiparts.com, they werea little cheaper. When I emailed them they had first said they had a car that needed the same part and they ended up sending the part out to dealer to get fixed.
It seams they dont even know they have the right part themselves.

I'm going to contact them and see if I can get this straightened out.
    Thanks for your info though

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

Well that is a good question. I should state that I'm not 100% sure yet this part will work for my 01.5. I'm 99% sure though I'm going to check my car in a little bit to see how much it matches up with picture. I dont have the part in hand yet but I'm sure enough that its the right part that I'm willing to order it.

I would email genuineaudiparts.com and give them your vin # and see what part comes up for the brake booster hose for your 00.

maybe its just with certain vin #'s that the part number is messed up. I'll keep digging into this and post what I find out.

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

So if you have a 2000 it is a totally different connection (brake booster hose is what it's commonly called) where you have a steel wired hose going to a valve that inserts into the firewall connection.

With the 2001+ they started to use a suction jet connection that is actually crappier and tends to get brittle and crack as you have found. They are actually two separate versions and they have different size connections in your motor so be careful which you order ;-).

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

Hmm yeah I actually found this from ECS tuning too:

    http://www.ecstuning.com/Search_VW/0...01AD/ES248917/

I'm going to try it out since I have credit with ECS tuning for some returns, and I'll report back to give confirmation that it works. (It'd be for a 01.5-02)

Re: WHere to buy Brake booster hose?

Had the same thing happen to me today, and found this in search. Mine came apart at what I assume is the check valve. The part at the "T". The end that connects to the mani looks fine, and I am pretty sure the other end is plugged since I have the RS4 accordion. For now, since no dealer is open, I am gonna just glue it back together. The photo of the new part above, on the bag, can someone confirm the part # so I can give it to the guy at the dealership instead of watching him scratch his head??

This is the part# if you have the breather hose tot he accordian hose:

    Pt # 078-133-701-AD sold at genuineaudiparts.com for $70.13

If you go to the dealer with that part number be prepared for your jaw to drop when they tell you the price.

I would buy it online at genuineaudiparts.com

    Doubt it!!!

I got mine from Avalon Motorsport for like $80 or $90. This thread helped me out big time back when I needed to do it.

The new updated part has a flexible hose, which I think is shown in the picture above. While it helps... its not fixing the main design flaw. I know that if mine breaks again, I will just be making my own and capping off the part that goes to the intake accordion hose, since any Stage 3 setup doesn't use it and it doesnt affect anything. Plus, if you replace your spider hose with an oil catchcan, its a good time to clean everything up.

Its just a simple check valve. Air goes in one way, can't go in the other. Don't have them bookmarked, but there are some threads on here and Audiworld showing more legitimate replacements. That diaphragm is paper thin and small, so I would think as long as you replaced it with a standard one way valve, it would work just fine.

The only issue is of course, connecting it to the intake manifold. I've seen one picture of someone who welded on an AN fitting there, but otherwise, you sort of have to bastardize the old hose, as the plastic manifold fitting can be removed from the hard plastic tube.

Can't remember if any of this was mentioned above or what.

When I do replace it I will prob just use screw clamps or factory style clamps. For now I Gorilla Glued the check valve back together. Seems like its holding fine, I pulled on it hard and its solid. Seems like it will be fine for now..

I know this is a 3 years old thread lol but I am running into the same booster hose cracker and temporarily fixed it with silicon and tie wraps. The thing is I got the new VAST intake and doesnt have the hole for the plug of that booster hose. I mean there is the valve connecting to the "T" going to intake manifold and the other side on the accordian hose. Since I got the VAST delete, would it be fine to just cap off that part not connected to the manifold ?

Super dee duper bump, but found this on 034, think this would work the same? Hell of a cost difference, it's a brake jet pump for a 1.8t. $30 vice $130.

Also, sorry if this has been covered before, after searching around I found this thread and figured it was a decent fit.

Also, sorry if this has been covered before, after searching around I found this thread and figured it was a decent fit.
Update: this doesn't work. Just installed it, and... It behaves funny. Brake pedal is hard like after you pump it a couple times with car off. Still works; just. Doesn't feel "correct."
    BUT!
Found the part number for just the new jet pump! Found one in China on eBay, for $7.99, free shipping! It will probably take two weeks to get here, but. Better than $130!

Just convert to the early style and be done with it.
You have everything you need except for a piece of hose and 2 hose clamps.
    Plenty of diy's on here.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.
