    loose fan belt???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
theres a weird high pitched whining sound coming from the fan belt area... (belt behind the radiator i believe. visible when you pop the hood) I hear the sound usually when im in idle, but when i drive off it kinda goes away. Also, theres a burning smell coming from the area that gets noticible when when i stop or park the car.

Anyone have any ideas? something loose in there? do i need to replace the belt? I just noticed the problem today.

    thanks

With the car off, reach down and pull on the belt. It should move but not very easily. Then start the car and see if the tens. has excessive movement, some is normal.
