Royal Purple Motor Oil

I going to change the s4 oil for the first time since i bought the car in Oct. I'm considering putting in Royal Purple. Any downside or upside in putting Royal Purple? Also which grade should I put in 5w40 or 0w40. One more thing, can i use any oil filter or can you guys recommend me one? BTW my car has about 59500 miles

I recomened using motul x-cess 8100 5w40. I have used royal purple in the past, motul is better because it has better detergent in it. use either an oem filter or a mann filter from ecs tuning tuning

Yea, shine the RP. I use the Motul's Xcess 5-40 also and it's a great oil. If you wanna go one step better, get Lubromoly.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately I cant find any of those Oil mention above around my area. I found some Redline oil, i might be using those. If not I will go with M1. Thanks again

I recommend any full synthetic you can find locally. Theres minute differences in the crazy good oils, you do get what you pay for, but if youre going 5k intervals, Castrol, M1, theyre all factory fill oils. Just dont push it, I cant stand the newer 15k intervals. Cheap insurance in my mind. Factory filter/equivalent everytime. Dont forget you need 10 quarts.

At all? Is this the split second "rattling rocks" noise you are referring to? Has this rang true for anyone else? If so, I will make the switch just for that reason, not to mention the other advantages. I cannot stand that noise. Thanks in advance.

I also think the weight will effect that startup noise, not necessarily the oil itself. For it to really stick, and create pressure quicker to stop that rattle, youd prob have to switch to like a 15-40 15-50 weight, which is way thicker than the factory recommendations. Not always a good thing
