hey guys,

so my gf got me tints for xmas and i just got them installed yesterday and i love them. I ended up going with the 28% which i think looks like about 23% or 25%. Anyway the guy that did them said i have to wait a week for the tints to dry, my question is though cops around my area arent very fond of tints. So if i were to get pulled over and open my window you think i will be fine?

if not how long do i have to wait before i can open the windows?

I know when there dry the first time you open the windows you have to close them fully up and down...

any ideas?

When I had mine done, they were bubbley and I couldn't open the windows for a week also. Park in the sun as much as possible. After all the bubbles are gone (if you have any) you can have them any way you want. After the drying period, you'll be good to go.

could i use a hairdryer?

depends, some bubbles come out, it may just be liquid in there. In my jeep they didn't come out so I had to bring it back to the shop. I've found it's best to go to a reputable shop even if it costs a little more because they will usually replace the tints for free.

The shop that did mine said the bubbles were normal and the more I parked in the sun and once they finally dried, they would go away. They went away in about 2 weeks and the tint was smooth as can be. It was super cold and snowy though.

If you get pulled over because the cop can't see into your car and then you swing the door open..that could end badly...I'd rather pay to have that window redone than eff around with that situation..

I don't know if I'd go messing with the tint with hair dryers and such. That way if there is a problem down the road, it's on the shop, not you.

you can't just add an S to make things plural. For example: Deer/fish/sheep... You don't say "look at those deers over there". You would say "look at those deer over there" Idk maybe your right. Who knows, but congrats on the xmas present and glad it looks good. Post up pics man!

Only if you've got different shades on each window, then you have "tints", plural..

Obviously don't roll them down if you don't have to, but iff a cop pulls you over, theres not much you can do. Like others have said, blast the heat when you drive and keep it parked in direct sunlight to help expedite the curing process.

the tint laws in my state say that you cant tint the front windows at all. those pics are shitty and were taken at night. they are actually really light and i have the silver interior so its even lighter.

they are 28% tints

edit: I believe the tint law is pretty much the same every where 35%. A few states vary.

no NJ you cant have any tints on the 2 front windows at all.

as far as my tail lights i like them. There led's and they look much better at night (better than a straight line of red). If you think that they look ricey, well thats your opinion. But as for me, i like the way they look and i am happy with my car.

I'd hardly call 28% a light tint..This may be a silly question and I probably already know the answer...If they are illegal in your state on the front windows...why did you get them put on? If they went through the trouble to have that tough of a law, they probably enforce it right? It's like MD with it's front tag law. I've seen cops pull U turns on brand new cars cause they don't have a front plate yet. I don't know, just seems like at some point, you're more than likely gonna get popped for it..Is it really worth it?

No. A 55 dollar front plate ticket..not worth it to me. My front plate is displayed. Also You can always put a front plate on with velcro. Window tint..not so much so. If he gets a repair order for it, that's gonna be a PITA.

haha, true, my state only allows 35% but I've tinted plenty of cars, probably over 100 cars with well below 35%... no one yet seems to mind even though the tickets will come... I see it as making sacrifices haha

hate to add to this but journalism major/english minor so it can't be helped, lol... but I think saying "i got my windows tinted" would be easier, and tint's is possessive, meaning the tint owns something, like, the tint's window, which doesn't make sense, lol. But you could say the tint's color looks off or something like that. seriously though these are forums, it's colloquial, don't be picky , lol. And happy new year to all btw =]
