    Re: ER Test Pipe Q.

I like the 3"-2.5" design of the ER if you have a 2.5" DP. Although not the best gradual step down...it is better than an adbrupt step down at the turbo or at the DP flange.

That being said it is a bit expensive and I'm not sure I would get a new one at the asking price. I got mine used from the classifieds for $125 shipped...although I haven't seen any used ones floating around in awhile.

    Re: ER Test Pipe Q.

The ER design is flawed, there should not be a step down. The turbo outlet is 70mm (2.75"). VME testpipe is 2.5" ID and there is virtually no bottleneck.

The ER has an abrupt step down that bottlenecks the gases.

even if you have a 2.5" DP it gets bottlenecked at the dp flange also

    Re: ER Test Pipe Q.

the ER is 3" on the outlet so thats good for the gases flowing from there, but then that step the gasses bottleneck there and dont flow as well. But then the VMR only being 2.5" and the outlet is 2.75" so wouldnt the gases hit a little right there on the lip? or no? and the stock flex pipe area is 2.5" or 2.75" ? And that being said, the VMR only being 2.5" smaller then the oulet on the turbo and smaller then the downpipe flexpipe (pipe) where it would mate up, wouldnt that restric flow?

    Re: ER Test Pipe Q.

There is the tiniest of bottleneck at the flange on a VMR testpipe it is less than 1/8" all the way around, it happens to be where the gasses are hottest (closest to the turbo) so they adapt to the bottleneck much better than the end of the test pipe where they have cooled and densified.

$100 is still $100 though. You will never notice the difference between the two testpipe but you will sure notice if there are 5 crispy 20s in your wallet.

    There's always ebay...
Used to be quite a few no name B6 TP's on there for about 100 shipped (as long as the welds are decent...a piece of pipe is a piece of a pipe!)

Did find this one though (although it's 3"):
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ATP-T...Q5fCarQ5fParts

And there are the classifieds...saw a PSI TP not too long ago (http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/...ct=6703&cat=12)

I actually have a ATP TP sitting in my garage I got free with my AWE exhaust. Figured I'd save it incase I get a 3" DP put on the AWE Cat back.
...well for the time being I guess I'll stick by my flawed ER TP . I really don't want the step down at my DP flange gasket.

that fits the stock KO3 for B6 right? Does the 3 inch actually not benefit the stock turbo since the pipe is bigger than it needs to be the 2.5 like the vmr is the right size?

    Re: ER Test Pipe Q.

    Both...yes, B5/B6 A4 1.8t's.
The PSI is 2.5" throughout while the ATP is 3" throughout.

I know the turbo out let is bigger than 2.5" and smaller than 3" (not 100% on exact size)...Greg stated it's 70mm

IMO either a 3", er 3-2.5, or 2.5" is way better than the cat (well except at cleaning the air ).
Depending on what exhaust you have I think the 2.5" or ER is best for stock thru 2.5" downpipe aftermarket exhaust as the 3" puts a big step down right where there is a gasket (downpipe-test pip gasket) which IMO can cause premature failure. I've read before of some having this issue w/ 3" TP on a stock exhaust.
