Question about all the Service/Protection Plans

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm about to get an A6 and the dealership is trying to sell me all these warranty and service plans.

    Recommendations about getting them?

This has probably been covered before and I'm sorry I didn't find it in my search but doing things last minute here so looking for some help.

    Thanks!

Re: Question about all the Service/Protection Plans

Warranty: who is the company behind the warranty? Anyone can sell a warranty, the hard part is following up and paying for repairs (and not going bankrupt to leave warranty-holders high and dry). As a general rule, 'exclusionary' policies are better than 'inclusionary', i.e. policies that specify only what is covered/included usually offer you the least coverage.

Service plan: does this mean prepaying for scheduled maintenance? I would be wary of buying a service plan

Re: Question about all the Service/Protection Plans

My question is...is this a new car, or a pre owned one. If it's preowned, have the dealer Certify it, and have the factory backed extended warranty included. If it's new, then you'll get the 4 year 50K mile warranty out of the box. Not sure how long you keep your cars, but if you do keep them longer then that, only get a factory backed extended warranty. Otherwise you run the risk of being on a road trip, the car breaks, and the dealer that they tow it to doesn't take your warranty so you're stuck with paying for the repairs.

Re: Question about all the Service/Protection Plans

As mentioned above, the company behind the warranty is critical...
AUDI dealers sell one at a hefty price that is good warranty, basicaly an extension of the factory one if I remember correctly but at the time they were asking me for 3200$ for it!
I passed but I bought one of the Continental warranties for $2400 [6yrs/100k miles - Turbo/Quattro included) which covers almost everything. They are great, they pay the dealer directly same day and the deductible is only $50.They honored all my claims except tie rod ends as they are considered wear parts like brakes, but they did cover all my control arms (upgraded ones), all 6 coil packs, alternator, Aux water pump... incl all laor. Never a question or hassle.. as a matter of fact I don't even talk tot hem , the shop cala them and deals with them directly. It gives me peace of mind and with the high labor and price cost for Audi parts, it helps a lot!!! The alternator change was over $900 for parts and extensive labor/radiator flush.... that would have hurt... I don't remeber the name of the plan but can find it if you are interested. I would recommend them.

Re: Question about all the Service/Protection Plans

Since it's a Audi Factoy extended warranty I would say go for it. Few extra bucks per month is worth the piece of mind to know that your car is covered and that you won't be left stranded. I would go to the dealer and grab the brochures for all those plans and read over them so you will know for sure what they cover and which one best suits you.

Re: Question about all the Service/Protection Plans

Is there any plan that covers incidentals, like wipers and bulbs and other odd items that go from time to time?
