    Newbie arrival to the party

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi people,

I'm just a few hours away from being the proud owner of an Audi A6. I've never experienced owning an Audi before and am quite nervous about getting, what is for me, such an expensive car.

I'm full of questions and anxiously awaiting the experience of owning an Audi and I was wondering if you guys had any advice for me. Things that I should do, things I should look out for etc.

Here's to hoping I can become a valuable member of your community.

    Thanks,

    M

Re: Newbie arrival to the party

Thanks, it is an 08 with the 3.2

I would have liked to get the V8 but it was way out of my price range. The 09s look sweet though :)

I will post pics as soon as I get it!

Re: Newbie arrival to the party

Ok my man, what you're getting is what is commonly known as a C6 chassis. The 3.2 is a really nice motor. I have it in my A6. Since we know that manuals were not offered in the C6s the next question is did you get the quattro, or a front track car. That will tell us what tranny is in it. But basically there are very few things that go wrong with these things. The few weak points are the coil packs, the headlights if you have the bi-xenons, and if you have the CVT tranny those go bad at about 55 to 60K miles. The Quattro ones are pretty much bulletproof.

Congrats on the new ride. You should be very happy with this thing. I know I love mine. Just keep the maintinance up on it, and it'll take care of you.

    Congrats on the new ride!

Does anyone on here have a C6 4.2? (Don't mean to highjack the thread, but just curious)

I got the quattro. Good to know that I'm getting a solid vehicle :) We have an 02 Accord right now and that thing is a tank :) I keep hearing such terrible thing about the cost of maintenance on German cars that it does scare me a little but my wife and I are pretty much in love with this car right now. Can't wait to actually get it, I think it'll be 2009 before we see it though, everyone is off and getting the RMV and Insurance company and dealership to all coordinate seems to be a bit of work right now.

Re: Newbie arrival to the party

Good job. Mine has almost 50K on it, and aside from some minor trim stuff breaking I really had two big things go on it. First was the sunroof track chewed itself up (recall was issued so your's should have the new stuff installed already), and the sensor in the steering column that reads the signal from the key went bad and the car wouldn't start. So they had to replace the whole column (That was such a fluke thing, the the dealer never even saw that failiure. They had to get tech support involved, and hell even they haven't heard of that one before). Yeah the maint. can be a bit pricey, but hell an oil change on my Passat Wagon was like $75 because of the need for synthetic oil. So for the new crop of cars, it really isn't too out of line. But as far as mechanical issues go the thing is really good.

Thanks for the information, I'm relieved to hear it. Looks like it'll be well into next week before I get the car and can post pics.

I do. It is a great driving car. With 355 hp/329 torque she moves pretty well for a big car.

Well I got the car. Not sure how to post pictures though. Can I upload them here or do I need them hosted somewhere else?

1st post your pic to "Gallery", then open it from there, copy the prperties at that location, then on forum post you click the yellow icon and paste the properties. Took me a nmber of tries. There's a "practice" forum to test on
