Uni 630cc file here. Previously ran the 415cc file with the 71r turbo. Works well and the guys @uni.ca are very helpfull if you can get in contact with them.

    Re: Unitronic

the Unitronic tuner you're talking about seems like a good deal, i talked to him on the phone last spring when he was offering up the software at a discount. there's a few big turbo guys on here with Unitronic and all is good. what is your buddy's name at the shop?

FYI make sure he knows you had the REVO trial software installed because i had done the same and it was a royal PITA to remove when i ended up going with GIAC.

out here in CO our intercoolers suffer a lot, do you plan on getting a front mount intercooler + exhaust? if so i'd consider getting a bigger turbo than the expensive and not-so-powerful K04... ;)

Hardy at Hardys Motorwerks in Parker.. Ya I'll let him know... damn Revo

I'm eventually going to go with a Milltek exhaust.. don't really want anything too loud.. and probably a FMIC.. As for the Turbo I dont know.. I want something that doesn't have tons of lag.. I'm not looking to run with S4s and the such

if your doing K04, there is no need to go Uni. APR/GIAC/Revo have that covered. Uni is better for BT tunes

uni has solid tunes all around. there's a lot of local cars running all their different files. if he can get a good deal there's absolutely no reason not to go with uni. not to mention you know how easily things can escalate and if he ever decides to go bigger he's much better off with unitronic

The only way you can do that is if uni has removed the immobilizer on the ecu, otherwise it won't work

    Re: Unitronic

I'm leaning towards Unitronics as well. I'm in the same boat as you, don't need all that power for city driving for me. I decided on Uni mainly because my local dealer can help custom tune the K04 for when I add the 034 mani and maybe slightly larger injectors.

Uni will be the new REVO if REVO doesn't step it up. But I agree $900 for a BT flash is outrageous.

Uni stage II here and loving it. My good buddy runs an B6 05 6MT GIAC 1+ with full exhaust minus testpipe, and i run Uni stage II full exhaust and test pipe and I pulled really hard on him. it was surprising. both seemed to be boosting properly, and there were not any boost leaks to be found.

    Re: Unitronic

I'm looking at Uni as well. It would be nice to hear some comparisons between the Revo, GIAC, and Uni programming. My understanding is that Uni does things a little differently but it would be cool to hear from people who have tried Revo and Uni, or GIAC and UNI (or all three!).

There's a great shop here that does Unitronic and MTM is a pain in the ass to deal with, so I'm thinking of dropping it.

can't speak for uni stage one on MY car - but the stage 1 uni cars i have driven out performed the REVO and APR stage 1 trials i did on my car by a long shot.

it isn't that bad of a price when you get a file that's actually meant for your car/setup. 600 for a car that you have to mess with and tweak to get running right --- or 900 for a car that you only have to tweak when you get the itch for more power.... yeahhh... i think i made the right choice

not to mention, when you're at this level of commitment with the car 300 bucks aint shit.

I got my uni chip and I love it! I tried the Revo trial and stright out of the box(or cord if you will) the Uni pulled harder. In the next month I'll have their K04 tune which is tuned for tt225 injectors and MAF so I'll let everyone know how that is

more money, less problems, more power, better service....

less money, more problems, less power, unreliable service (not from dealers, from the company)....

the choice is up to you

and 900 is if you go straight to the file. if you've already got Uni stage 1, 2, etc then it's less. idk how much though, i went straight to the 630 file.

also, they're SUPPOSED to start bench flashing BT tunes soon... (atleast that's the rumor amongst dealers.) if they do that's no more shipping/waiting even though they next day air your ECU to and from.. something else to keep in mind/check out for yourself.

It's true, unitronics have quality software from what I've read so far. I just haven't decided what turbo to run with.

    Re: Unitronic

OK $600 for a BT tune correct + the SPS game boy is what $300 something dollars plus 80% of us are not tuners most of us do not need to be tweaking anything to get our cars to run right

$900 for a tune that you put on your car is pretty dam good look at this thread

    Re: Unitronic

Unitronic has been around in the VW scene for quite some time, gaining quite a reputation among their followers.

The fellow behind the company was a former Bosch programmer who worked on Audis and formed his own company. Which is why the tune is able to pull as hard as it does, absent any fault-codes and without disabling any factory sensors, mind you.

I've had mine chipped weak-sauce stg.1 for a year now and have had zero maintainence issues. Except one coil pack a month ago, after the first two the initial month after getting chipped.

The only ghost I've encountered is an 'underboost' code that I get which comes up now and again when I'm driving hard. I figure the extra boost is collapsing the old factory TIP.

    I say go for it.

For the record, it's Unitronic. Singular.

mine disables a lot of factory sensors lol.

but yes, i agree on all other points - as well as your suspicion of the factory TIP..

    Re: Unitronic

I've been looking at Uni lurking in the background and was wondering when they'd knock REVO off their throne. The question I have is that it seems like going with Uni is going to benefit you best if you go BT/BAT. The biggest I'm planning on going is GTRS and that's not going to be for a while. Isn't REVO still the best way to go on that?
Also I like to buy right now in the beginning so that it's not costing me later on to switch over. Is anyone running Unitronics/GTRS or is that a stupid question?

not a stupid question at all - i ran my 630 file with a GTRS before going BAT and loved every second of it.

granted it appears i was making too much power far too quickly (not a bad thing if you plan ahead hahaha) for the stock rods -- so i'd budget for a set of rods along with the rest of your build if you're planning on a Unitronic tune.

    Re: Unitronic

Chadb2464 said Uni pulled harder but the numbers are almost identical on paper. Does anyone have graphs to compare Uni vs REVO? Seems like everyone makes the same amount of power until you get to BT. I'm just wondering how they all compare with Stage 1 and 2 flashes.
