Question H&R, vogtland or stasis coilovers?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Which ones and why? Looking to buy a set for my daily driver 02 1.8T quattro 5spd. I do not want a slammed look. I have read vogtlands are easiest to adjust and I also know that the h&r's are the cheapest and can be had under $1000. I just want to drop the car a little and drasticly improve my handling. I will probably be adding a rs4 rear swaybar as well.

My Vogtlands are great, nothing super impressive but they do the job, probably the same as stassis and h&r. Adjusting is really easy, even a monkey could do it. Right now for winter I have them set up at the highest possible and its still way too low for winter driving.

I have read that you can't adjust dampening on H&R coilovers. If this is a concern to you, you might want to lean towards a different set.

H&R coilovers don't have damping adjustments. They are fixed dampers, height adjustable only.

Re: H&R, vogtland or stasis coilovers?

    STaSIS does not make coilovers...

In the same pricepoint as the Vogtland and H&R are the Koni 1150 (the set that STaSIS rebadges and sells)

You can find them for a very good price typically at PureMS, MJM Autohaus and other AZ supporters.

In my opinion, you should save up a few more dollars and get the STaSIS/Ohlins SL, it is a great setup, they are asking $2499 but I am pretty sure there is some wiggle room in there.

If you go with a setup that costs $1000-1200 they will not last >50K miles.

I don't think i'm too concerned with adjusting the shocks/struts. I just want a nice quality piece thats going to make a huge difference in handling while being good enough for a daily driver on new york roads. I do not want it slammed.

Are the Vogtland or Stasis stainless steel?
