Moving to the Chicago suburbs

Hey i just got a job out in Hoffman Estates, I used to live in the city but not too familiar with the northwest suburbs. I know there is a lot to do in Schaumburg but was wondering about a few other suburbs....

What does everyone think of Paletine, Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village???
just a few places that im looking at for apartments. Im right out of college so i want to be able to meet people and have things to do..

any help would be great. thanks!

now i may not be from chicago but 2 of my roommates from last year are from arlington "action" heights. Ill talk to them and see what the good bars are 'n such.

schaumburg is a good area, near everything. Elk grove is a good and quite area. Hoffman estates is good depending on where you go to. Palatine and arlington heights are also nice.
But i would prolly stay in schaumburg or elk grove

i was hoping to pay a little less than i did when living in lincoln park but anywhere decent in schaumburg is around 900 for a 1 bedroom. it looks like if i go more north or east it gets a little cheaper.

I live in Glendale heights, which is near Lombard. I would stay away from Dupage county. Im paying 1200 for a 2bedroom ~1100 sq ft. I've looked in schaumburg too and it was quite high. You either have to go further north from schaumburg or way way farther south to find something cheap. Me and my roomate are just thinking of buying a condo instead now since mortgage would be less than what we are paying for rent.

do you like Mexican food? random lol i know but i know an AMAZING place in fox lake right on the river... i dont know if you've heard of it El Puerto. Best place in state. I've taken my Mexican friends there and even they say its really good. We should go sometime... since its sorta halfway in middle...

I don't live in Chicago, but I've been to Heat out there in Schaumburg, not a bad little joint. You've got Accent Cafe up in Wheeling, which is like what? 20 minutes away?

so was apartment shopping yesterday in Schaumburg and found a place called Versailles on the Lake...really nice apartment complexes with newly remodeled apartments..anyone ever hear of these? Its right off of Golf Road and Plum Grove (right by wooldfield mall)
