    another CVT tranny problem!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
well about 4 months ago I had to get mt TCU replaced. luckily it was covered under warranty. Now my car is back at the stealership and they said that my tranny has to be replaced. my warranty might cover all the costs for the fix.

my question is... should I keep the car? I'm guessing the car would be a lot better once the new tranny is installed. thanks guys!

    "another CVT tranny problem!!!"

tranny in that sentance is redundant. you basically said: "another continuously variable transmission tranny problem"

but besides that, how many miles are on the car? most people get rid of the car when they find out that they have to replace the transmission. find yourself a nice used 1.8 with tiptronic and quattro.

no you shouldn't keep the car. let them fix it then trade in. get a manual B6.
now it's a good time to buy a car but also a bad time to sell/trade your car.

lol my b6 had its tranny replaced at 26k... covered under warranty, and first owner had to deal with it... My TCU died on ME though at 60k... If your CVT is under warranty, have it fixxed and you should be good as new... otherwise, sell it "as is" or fix it and chuck it!

    Re: another CVT tranny problem!!!

i had my whole transmission replaced for a refurbished one. Apparently there was something wrong with some sort of bearing, at least thats what the tech said. All covered under warranty tho. Im still confised as to whether its a cvt or tip. I think a tip came when you got a quattro and a cvt when you got the fwd version. Can anyone confirm that?

    Re: another CVT tranny problem!!!

the car has about 98k on the clock! I went to a Subaru dealership and they were only wiling to give me 4k for the car with the messed up tranny, but the manager said he would pay me around 6k if I fix the problem. the car I wanted to get is a 2005 WRX manual.

BTw- the dealership loaned me a 2008 a4 sline... Now I'm having doubts on the subaru. B7 in stick shift sounds really good right now!!!!
